For all those who are interested or curious, or for those who have experienced problems with this mask's faceplate sockets, be sure to check out the good news from Respironics on the new ComfortGel.

Some excerpts:

November 9, 2009

Updating ...faceplate sockets to make them tougher than ever.
Using a high-strength polycarbonate material
Creating a new, robust socket wall design to provide reliable performance

visit http://www.comfortgel.respironics.com to learn more about the new ComfortGel.

Best to all.

It's interesting that they provide no evidence for this. I'd like to see some close up pictures but there's nothing.

The sales brochure still that can be downloaded is still old... it shows a © 2007. The pictures of the product still look the same.

I have 8 broken ones in the other room. I still don't know if they have really fixed it. The design looks exactly the same. Plus that design has the straps deeply pressed against my cheeks... so it always left long lasting marks.

About 6 months ago, they were claiming to have fixed broken weak spot.

Time will tell if where the clips connect, is more robust.

Even if this is true, many are still in the system waiting to be sold, the trickly down facture could be huge, as could some Big DME stocks of the poorly designed ones. One thing worry me. If they did, Finally did decide to fix this poor construction feature, where did the rob the plastic from on the mask, to make the connectors stronger, surely they wouldn't risk profits by using more plastic. I hope it wasn't from the forehead "T" Bar it's already too weak. Jim

No, no, no...it's "don't feed the trolls!" Or in the case, the Respironics employee with the inferiority complex.

Does this mask seem similar to the soft foam on the F & P 407?

The Gel is like very stiff jello in a silicone skin, Smells really bad for a while. All in all it's a good nasal mask. Jim

If anyone wants pics and can tell me how to upload them, I'll be more than happy to take pictures of the new mask when I get home tonight. I just got it a week or so ago and don't have any complaints. I'm taking them from my cell phone so they won't be the best in the world.

Get an account at http://www.photobucket.com (it's free) and upload them there. When you get your pics uploaded, they will provide you image links that you can cut and paste into a post.

I have a photobucket account. I was asking as I wasn't sure if there was a specific protocol.

Here are my pics. Again, this is from my cell phone camera, so they are not the best in the world. I tried to get the pics as clear as I could.
