still snoring while sleeping on my back

Post by estherz » Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:37 am

I have a devilbiss standard sleep cube machine, the pressure is set for 12. My husband says I am now only snoring while on my back. Do I need to increase the pressure. If yes ,by how many increments. Any other position is okay.

I don't know much about your machine, but an APAP would increase pressure to stop snores. Snoring suggests a constriction that causes soft tissues to vibrate, so increasing pressure should reduce snores. Hopefully it does not interfere with sleeping in other positions. I would only change 1/2 increment at a time.

have your machine downloaded. No cpap machine works well for people who sleep on there backs. Anatomically its extremely difficult to keep the tongue from blocking the airway while on your back. If you feel rested, your avg AHI is good there may be no need to make changes. Seems to me this is probably a positional problem, try sleeping on your side.

if wife tapes a tennis ball to the middle of your back, this will remind you to sleep on your side
