You can get the DT3500 card reader for it from http://two-factors.com/ for $30 including shipping.

yep, read about that, but it looks like just a standard smart card reader, would not any smart card reader work? seems it should.

On 2factors.com, is the "landing" or "sliding" card reader that is needed for EncorePro??

Every posting I've seen is the sliding. I emailed them and that is what they told me. $24

The "sliding" reader is what you want if you buy it at 2factors.

The sliding is the type cpap and others ship with the software. There is an encrypted area on the smart card the reader has to be able to read. It could be in different locations on different readers. If you have a reader, give it a try, it may read the card. This particular info was to keep you from a hit and miss type reader. The card reader has it's own driver, not the Encore software driver. The Encore pro is necessary for the reader though as a means of transferring the information. If I am wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. I have the software and reader and that's the way I see it.

that is what i kind of figured, the driver is the key to reading the card from the acap. as the mako reader is only 30 shipped, it is not worth saving maybe 10-15 and it not work, so i will bite the bullet and get the Mako DT3500 as i know from you all it does work. now they even have the encore pro divers on the same web page as the reader..so they know we are using them for just that. thanks gang.
