I can't remember when I've slept this much!

Post by rickskids » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:34 pm

I'm worried I may be overdoing this sleep thing. I'm waking up once maybe twice to wipe my mouth off, drool will causes leaks. I'm probably sleeping 7-8 hrs. a night. I haven't slept that much since boot camp over 27 yrs ago. I don't need a pot of coffee in the morning, an afternoon double shot latte or a redbull for the drive home. I haven't had a nap in three weeks...haven't needed one. I was always a 4-5 hr a night sleep guy. I was not expecting these type results so soon. I went from a 77 AHI on my sleep study to 3.1 AHI avg. A lot of this is directly due to all the information at hand on this site. You guys do a wonderful job informing and keeping newbs on track keep up the good work.

Yes my first couple of weeks were like that too, it wears off after a while. The first week I slept like the dead - never moved all night, my joints hurt when I got up. I had to get a new softer mattress cover. It is like your body just can't get enough of the good stuff for the first little while.

I envy you getting 7-8 hours of sleep. Have been on CPAP just over a month and am still struggling. Even with CPAP, I am still waking up so early and not being able to get back to sleep. I am like you used to be having only 4 hours per night. Currently, I keep getting severe nasal congestion which is making impossible to use the CPAP. Tried last night and felt like I was suffocating with the lack of air. Last week, my ENT found the cause of my congestion as being enlarged turbines. On Dec 3rd, I am getting a septoplasty/turbine reduction. Hopefully that will make using CPAP a lot more better as currently I can't breath.

Good luck on your success, maybe I will get there soon.

Isn't it wonderful!!
I love being able to make it through the weekend without a LONG nap Saturday & Sunday. I still enjoy a good nap from time to time, but now I lay down because I want to, because my bed is cozy and my lazy cat beckons to me to join her- NOT because I absolutely cannot stay awake for one more minute.

Glad your treatment has been so beneficial. I love to hear happy CPAP stories

Smitty,

Turbines? I didn't even know I had any. Funny how things are breaking on my body that I didn't even know I had.
