Nasal pillows, how far up the nose?

Post by unclematt » Wed Oct 28, 2009 8:28 pm

How far up in your nostrils are these things supposed to fit? I keep trying to learn to use my Resmed pillows but they fall out after about 3 hours and my nose will be runny and I can't get them to go back in and stay.

Matt,

Ummm, they aren't supposed to go in your nostrils. They are supposed to press up against the bottom of your nostrils. If they don't seal, you can use a little bit of Lansinoh to help the seal. If yours go into your nose, then try a bigger size of pillows.

Me too. I could never get nasal pillows to sit right. They'd keep slipping off. And the constant friction rubbing made my nose and upper lip just RAW and painful.

Try PRONGS. It looks painful and horrible, but it's NOT. It's stable, and so comfortable you forget you have it on, and have to feel your face to make sure the mask is still there.

For more info on the Nasal Aire II, and to test drive it before you buy one, see my links below in my signature block.

Good luck!
Barbara

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Touching the bottom of the nares of the nose--not up in the nostrils.

That could explain my discomfort LOL. I had been stuffing them up inside my nose. I'll try again this weekend.
