Masks and machines available to pediatric patients

Post by SingleMom » Thu Oct 29, 2009 6:50 pm

I remember reading somewhere that there are only a handful of machines that can be used by children. Anyone know if this is true? If so, any links so I can start looking at machines? How about masks?

My son just had his second sleep study (in 2 years, not titration) and I want to be prepared. If his results are the same or worse than his last study, pulmo wants to try him on cpap. She will also write a specific script for a machine and mask so I don't have to argue with DME.

I don't think that the machines are different.

Masks can be yes... different sizes... for an example see the Kidsta mask.

PS - If you are not already aware, there are dedicated pediatric forums on http://www.talkaboutsleep.com/, http://www.apneasupport.org/, and http://www.sleepguide.com/group/sleepdisorderschildren that may also be of interest to you.
