Do you ever have a bad taste or dry mouth using your cpap machine? My humidfier is set on 3.

Sounds like you may be mouth breathing. Try Biotene mouth wash. It will help keep the mouth moisturized and help with the bad taste.

Not only do I sometimes have a bad taste in my mouth, sometimes I wake up smelling my bad breath through my nasal pillows or nasal mask. What I've eaten the night before and how close to bedtime I ate it seem to be the determining factors.

Yes, yes and yes! Even though I brush and scrape my tongue, and rinse with Biotene mouthwash, I still get really bad morning breath.

I can concur with millich that, for me, it absolutely correlates with what/how I eat for dinner and how close to bed I eat. If I allow 2-3 hours with a light meal that won't be a trigger (I have IBS and some reflux issues), it helps immensely.

If it's a bad taste AND a dry mouth, you probably are mouth breathing, in which case you may need a chinstrap (I use the PapCAP from Pursleep.com) or just crank the humidifier up.
Sleep well and live better!

Do I have a bad taste in my mouth? Only when pseudo-Dmes post on this site... Seriously, it is normal to do so. If your mouth is overly dry as well, it may be time for the tape on the mouth.

Yes, what Autopapdude says!

When I first started out, I awoke with a very dry mouth and the worst taste ever! Once I started taping, no more dry mouth, no more awful taste. Every now and then I skip the tape. Night one is just fine, but after that, the bad taste returns along with the dry mouth.
