Moved EncorePro data base to new computer

Post by ClayL » Sun Oct 25, 2009 3:56 pm

After a false start trying to just move encorepro.mdf from the old laptop to the new one, I ended up exporting the data (ends up as an .xml file), putting it on a flash drive and importing it into EncorePro on the new drive.

During the export operation I was afraid the program was locked up but it was just a large file (168 MB) and took 30 minutes or so.

At this point life is good, Encore Pro is working with Vista 64 bit (with help from folks on the this forum - thanks again). I have access to my data going back to early 2007. EncoreProAnalyzer works.

Wonder what will happen when I upgrade to Windows 7 when the free disc gets here?

Open Encore Pro on the computer you want to move the database from, then right click on your name and click on "Export patient". I chose to download it to the desktop. That will save the database as an .xml type file. It may take a long time for EP to complete the operation and it may appear to be locked up - just wait it out.
After the file is created transfer it to the flash drive.
Open EC on the computer you want to move the database to and plug the flash drive in. On the left side under "Common tasks" click on "Import patient". Choose the .xml file on the flash drive for EP to import. That can take a while to complete also.
That should do it.
