Mirage Liberty/2nd Night/ Same Problems

Post by DannyPh » Fri Oct 23, 2009 6:52 am

Well. last night was my second night with the Mirage Liberty FF Mask and I am still having the same problems. Can't get the Pillows to seal Properly. I tried moving them around to get a better seal and even used a Gel in the Nares and still have Leakage. I am using the Large Pillows and maybe I should try the Medium Pillows. There has to be some way to adjust the pillows for a better fit but I can't figure it out. I like the Mask a lot but if I can't get the Leakage stopped the the Quest for the Proper FF Mask continues. Any suggestions to eliminate this Problem will be Greatly Appreciated. Also, it seems that the exhale vents are blowing Air up in mt Face. Does anyone know if the vents are adjustable ? Thank you.

Danny, try the medium pillows. You have nothing to lose. I recently had that problem and switched from the medium to the small. The leaks cut down greatly. Good luck to you.

I haven't had a problem with the vents blowing air into my face. Are you sure that it's not some other part of the mask that's leaking air upwards? I don't think the vents are adjustable.

One other odd thing about the mask: For me, it seems like the mouth dryness lessens with a lower humidifier setting, not a higher one. I kept raising the setting, thinking that would help, and it seemed to work just the opposite. Go figure.

I agree--try the medium pillow. But I found the greatest reduction in leakage when I pulled a shoelace in front of the nasal pillows and tied it around the back of my head. It doesn't need to be tight. Mine is loose enough that I can pull it off without untying it and even put it back on again (though I re-tie it every night).

Good luck!

I second what ruby said! Only I use a narrow (1/8") piece of elastic instead of a shoelace. It really puts those pesky pillows in their place!

EDIT: Guess I should mention I use a Hybrid, not a Liberty...but the solution applies to both.
