Blisters and rash

Post by Pudd » Tue Oct 20, 2009 12:21 pm

I have small white blisters and a rash on my nose where my mask sits. Why??? It can't be tight, because if i loosen it i have air leaks. Oh yea, i'm very new at this. I only have had my machine for a week.

Are you washing your mask daily? For me, this is absolutely required. Some say that a new mask or mask parts should be soaked for 30-60 mins in soapy water to remove all traces of the chemicals used in manufacturing.

My especially touchy skin reacts to soap residues, so I wash with Dawn, rinse and wash with eco-friendly 7th Generation to get rid of of the Dawn, then spray with white vinegar (the cheap kind) and let sit 1-2 mins to remove all residues, and finally rinse very, very well and let air dry. If I don't go thru this routine, my skin blisters where the silicon touches my skin.

Thanks, i will make sure I do that. I do clean the mask everyday, but I don't use dawn.

You might consider placing a piece of gentle paper tape on the area where the mask touches your nose. That may create enough of a barrier to prevent the blisters and rash.

Also can try moleskin on the mask in the area where it is rubbing against the nose. Also a new product called Band-Aid brand Friction Gel might be worth a try.

U may also want to try a barrier cream like CPAP moisture therapy.
