Drastic change?
Since i started therapy three years ago ivw been on bipap. Started with 18/16 then to 24/18 which ive been on for the last year and a half. Just went for a new sleep study. The results show that i now need regular good ole cpap rather than bipap at 14. Does this make sense?
Re: Drastic change?
That's hard to say. Have there been any changes in your health, weight, etc? But long ago I learned that anything is possible. Of course, your first or most recent sleep study might have been wrong/inaccurate. What have your numbers (AHI, AI, HI, use) been?galicianer wrote:Since i started therapy three years ago ivw been on bipap. Re: Drastic change?
Forgot to mention that ive been using a full face mask. The new sleep study was don with a fisher paykel nose mask. Might this have anything to do with it? Btw does anyone have an opinion about th fp nose mask vs the ultra mirage II nose mask?

Could be. I have used a full face mask (many, including ZZZ and Quattro as well as others) and nasal masks. Using my current nasal mask, my numbers are a fraction of the numbers I was getting using the full face masks. Here are some of my numbers:
Full face mask numbers:
6/28/09 Leak in L/s = 0.38
AHI = 6.2
AI = 0.9
HI = 5.3
Use in hrs = 7.21
95th percentile pressure in cm H2O = 13.4
6/29/09 Leak in L/s = 0.28
AHI = 6.9
AI = 1.7
HI = 5.2
Use in hrs = 8.11
95th percentile pressure in cm H2O = 13.4
Current mask numbers (see mask info below)
9/22/09 Leak in L/s = 0.12
AHI = 1.0
AI = 0.0
HI = 1.0
Use in hrs = 8.21
95th percentile pressure in cm H2O = 13.2
9/23/09 Leak in L/s = 0.26
AHI = 2.4
AI = 0.0
HI = 2.4
Use in hrs = 6.51
95th percentile pressure in cm H2O = 12.4
Re: Drastic change?
May I ask you what was your AHI on BiPAP 24/18 right before you went to your recent sleep study?

Time to start reading and learning. Start with the Our Wisdom section at the top of the page.galicianer wrote:I may sound stupid but im not sure what ahi is...
Lots of acronyms.
AHI = Apnea Hypopnea Index = number of apneas + hypopneas per hour
AI = Apnea Index = number of apneas per hour
HI = Hypopnea Index = number of hypopneas per hour
