I can't seem to find this info with a search: Will ResScan read and display data from the CMS-50E in its "pulse oximetry" data tab?
I'm toying with the idea of buying one, but it'd be nice if ResScan could interface with it.
CMS-50E and ResScan
Re: CMS-50E and ResScan
There is no way to intermingle the software data from the oximetry report to machine's software that I am aware of.

Re: CMS-50E and ResScan
No way can you do that. I believe ResMed's ResScan software can read the date from ResMed's oximeter (I bought and use the CMS50E - $139.95) but I looked into the ResMed oximeter and it costs a fortune. I bought my relatively inexpensive data recording oximeter (CMS50E) that creates its own report and just use the report from the oximeter and the ResScan reports to see what is happening. For me at least, the oximeter is not necessary because my saturation does not drop while I sleep using the S8 AutoSet II APAP machine. The CMS50E is a neat little device that works great for me just to check my saturation level (98 to 99 so it makes me feel good to know that).sifr wrote:I can't seem to find this info with a search: Will ResScan read and display data from the CMS-50E in its "pulse oximetry" data tab?

There are so many things Resmed could have done nicersifr wrote: it'd be nice if ResScan could interface with it.
As i understand it there are a group of programmers working on open source software to read data from all major manufacturers equipment. Data from oximeters is to be considered further down the line though, so I wouldn't hold your breath

Uncle Bob, did you consider "AutoBob" for your plates......you should get a commission for the ad!!!!
and I find the CMS 50 E to work just fine and easy to compare to ResScan data.

Re: CMS-50E and ResScan
Since there are no standards of any sort for interfacing to domestic grade oximeters, what do you specicially think that any of the CPAP vendors could have done nicer in that respectUncle_Bob wrote:There are so many things Resmed could have done nicer

Re: CMS-50E and ResScan
I was referring mainly to other things they could have done nicer. In the case of the oximeters where no standards exist it would be nice if the CPAP vendors software had an open programmable interface allowing the oximeter manfacturers to interact and provide data. Oximeters could then provide the data in a format that the CPAP software e.g ResScan could understand.billbolton wrote:Since there are no standards of any sort for interfacing to domestic grade oximeters, what do you specicially think that any of the CPAP vendors could have done nicer in that respectUncle_Bob wrote:There are so many things Resmed could have done nicer

So the software vendor just specifies an open interface (no standard needed), then it would be up to the oximeter manufacturer to use that interface. The oximeter manufacturer would then have a market advantage over its competitors who are not compatible with CPAP vendor software.
But given the fact that Resmed are not interested in patients even having the software in the first place this is all probably pie in the sky.
