I got a new mask today....FullLife
I got notice the other day of a delivery, so I knew that at some point that I needed to stop at the UPS store to pick it up. Even though I have too many things I want to do today, I decided to go walk and get the package.
On the way back I stopped in at my DME, to see if there had been any further news on the FullLife. Answer was they had just gotten them in. So, now I have a FullLife with FitPack to try. Talked about other things that I'm due for replacement and such....talked about how I'm tired during the day and dozing off sometimes...I think I said afternoon, but I realized that it also happens in the morning...just sitting and not much physically....I'll nod off sometimes. Don't really have any other future appointments schedules, except for my anniversary which is still a long ways off. I suppose its a sign that I should schedule my annual physical, though I don't really want to...with all the stuff I'm hearing about now being over 40.
I think there's something wrong, but I no longer want to find out that there's something else wrong....and not really keen on getting poked and prodded anymore.
During the list of things I could get new of, humidifier tank came up...so I mentioned about the recall that was posted on here. She said they'll probably hear about it soon, probably when Respironics has a supply of replacements to send them.
Will be eligible for new hose on Friday. But, still have the new hose that I picked up almost 3 months ago....decided that I should look at my hose (probably would've made sense to go over everything when I was rearranging my bedroom....but it didn't fit my normal cleaning routine). Like washing the sheets during the move might have been a good thing, since I had to strip and remake bed during its move. But, I put off doing laundry until today. I put together a new yesterday, so now I'm putting clean laundry into it.
Now that last cycle where I do hand wash items....so I'm doing headgear, also threw in hose cover...and peaked at the hose that I've been using (and haven't changed) since getting the hose cover. Seems okay, though surprised to see creasing and other indentations along it....seems to be from the Hozer clips...
Guess I'll replace it.
What do people do with old bits?

Re: I got a new mask today....FullLife
So, there's this weekly online chat for sleep apnea....over on Talk About Sleep...that I've been frequenting on Tuesday nights (it runs 8pm to 10pm Central).
Well, next week they are going to have Respironics on for the first hour to talk about e FullLife Mask. And, then they said they'll be giving away 5 of them.
Guess that means I have to use my new mask sometime before next week....though doesn't look like I'll get to it tonight....

Re: I got a new mask today....FullLife
Well, last night....it got to be rather late by the time I got laundry done and to remaking my bed and reassembling my CPAP gear....so I opted to not try the FullLife and try to make the most of the 6 hours before my alarm would go (and it caught me off guard when it went off this morning).
What I did finally get to try was wrapping the end of the hose with plastic to get the cover on to it. And, it went on slick.
I think I'm going to adjust my plans this evening to try to get into the mask tonight....

Re: I got a new mask today....FullLife
I'de be interested to see how you get on with the fullife dreamer. My DME has one demo mask in stock that i can try on at my next docs visit and then they have to order one.
As for what to do with the old stuff, I keep some mask parts for spares and anything that the kids can use like hoses for arts and crafts or Halloween costumes etc. Everything else i just throw out. All my masks, chin straps, aromatherapy, ultra sonic cleaners, distilled water and other CPAP supplies are beginning to take over my closet.

Re: I got a new mask today....FullLife
I'm thinking of giving the FullLife another go this weekend. I'm going to try the routing suggestion from sleepngo to route the neck strap on the inside of the chin strap. That, and I'm going to watch the fitting videos again.

Re: I got a new mask today....FullLife
Well, I did my first night with the FullLife.
It didn't seem near as bad getting the mask to fit than when I was at the DME. It was kind of tense trying to remember what the order of the straps were and being able to see what I was doing (actually not...and my new bedroom layout is much darker than in the past...the blue lights are better shielded .. as are other sources of light, like the red ones from the PowerSource 400).
I rolled around a bit testing the fit and seal of the mask. The big issue seems to be hose management. Not sure what kind of mod I need to make in that area yet.
Otherwise, seems okay with me sleeping on my side or stomach...in fact that's what I did for the first part of the night.
I think I need to bump my humidifier up a notch....because my mouth was bone dry this morning.... Have never had mouth so dry before.
Normally, no problems keeping mouth shut, but been having teeth problems lately due to all the grinding I've been doing....actually I had trouble around this time last year just before I started CPAP...

tattooyu, need to suggest that when routing the neck strap inside the chin strap, make sure that the velcro part of the strap is on the outside of the plastic wings, looping over the chin strap. This arrangement make it much better for adjusting the neck strap without it binding between the chin strap and plastic wings, when snugging it up. Part that goes around the neck, is routed inside the chin strap, part that is used to adjust the strap on the outside. Works great.tattooyu wrote:I'm thinking of giving the FullLife another go this weekend. I'm going to try the routing suggestion from sleepngo to route the neck strap on the inside of the chin strap. Dreamer, good luck with the FullLife, but take care to protect the bridge of your nose. This mask, if you haven't found out already, can really make your nose sore without some from of protection. Tape or Moe skin are just two ways you can try, if needed .

I just tweeted this morning, asking if the sore on my nose looks infected....it seems kind of yellowish....sleepngo wrote:Dreamer, good luck with the FullLife, but take care to protect the bridge of your nose. Re: I got a new mask today....FullLife
Well, sadly the chat didn't happen on yesterday...it got rescheduled to October 21st.TheDreamer wrote:So, there's this weekly online chat for sleep apnea....over on Talk About Sleep...that I've been frequenting on Tuesday nights (it runs 8pm to 10pm Central).

Sounds like it'll be an interesting chat....an open free for all, no moderator, etc. And, only one of the two respironics reps on keyboard for both.
OTOH, I showed up a couple minutes late, and they were talking about the mask, but it was another user using the mask for the first time and having issue with it adding a bump to her nose...having had a nose job to remove another bump....
So far, I've only slept with the mask 3 times....got a oozing sore after the second night....later when that hardened up, I tried again....did not feel nice the next morning, so I didn't use it last night.
Perhaps I'll just build a tolerance to it eventually....guess its good that I can switch back to my old mask as I try to adjust to this one. When I first started, the profile lite was my only mask...so when the sore opened up on my nose, all I could was keep using the mask and put up with it....until the sore got infected and the doctor made me stop. (I was there because of a sinus infection, though the MRSA infection on my nose bridge was more important to him). I think I could see that I'd have trouble getting compliant if I didn't have the option to get away from a nose hurting mask....
