I just wanted to update since you all were so kind to help me out with suggestions.
Last night I used Afrin (which expired in 2007 LOL) and Nasonex both at the same time. After I did a saline flush. I don't even know which one of them worked, but my head started deflating immediately! I also took the OTC sinus meds. I was feeling lousy, so I went to bed a bit after seven last night. I woke up at 1:30 this morning. And the congestion has moved to my chest. And that's fine. It always takes this course and I always forget until the next time it happens. Normally, I would have been hacking my lungs up last night. But I think the humidifier really, really helps with that!
I did cough up some nasty brown stuff. :p Yeah, I know. You are very welcome for ANOTHER mental picture.
So, while I still have an annoying sinus headache and some burning in my chest, I'm not praying for a merciful death anymore. I do have laryngitis, though.
You know, most of the people I know have never had laryngitis in their entire lives. The ones who HAVE had it have done so only a couple of times. I usually get it two to four times a year! I wonder if that is somehow related to my collapsing throat. Maybe I should do a poll.

Re: The Symptoms Just Come Right Back, Don't They?
Afrin...it's like magic! Shame it's causes such horrific rebound congestion. But I get 5 days of relief using that method I described and that's usually enough to be over the worst.Cassandra wrote:...head started deflating immediately!
If it's the cold, here's a tip from I doc I really liked who had the nerve to retire in '99 : no cold liquids or foods when you have a head cold because the cold facilitates migration of the virus from head to chest. Since I learned this, I've done this and only had 1 chest cold. Might give it a try...next time. I get Elderberry tea bags and combine with some form of cranberry or red raspberry herb tea, it's pretty tasty; other swear by the liquid form called Sambucol.Cassandra wrote:...congestion has moved to my chest...
