difference between S8 Vantage and S8 Autoset II

Is there any difference between these two other than the Vantage has EPR only in CPAP mode?

The AutoSet II has the new EasyBreathe motor which also reduces the sound level quite a bit.

cpap.com describes the S8 Elite as one of the top machines in the Resmed product line up. But it describes the Vantage as the premier machine in the line up.

This is the opposite as to what is mentioned on Resmeds own web site.

Resmed own site has the S8 listed as the premium machine and the vantage as a premium machine.

You will eventually discover the cpap.com's product descriptions are frequently copied and pasted from company brochures or sites.

In this case, Resmed updated their site when they started selling the II and cpap.com has not not. At the rate things go nowadays, today's Vantage (in anything) is tomorrow's Vintage before you even notice...

It looked to me like the Vantage was an older machine because it didn't have EPR in auto mode ... and that is older technology but they want the same price.

I was just wondering if there was something I had missed ... always possible.

You saying it should be called the Vintage?

It is, Resmed stopped making them around the end of 2007/early 2008.

The Vantage was a North American specific product name, with the same machine being called the Autoset Spirit elsewhere. With the introduction of S8 II models the Vantage model became the Autoset, bringing the model name more in line with Resmed's global branding.

Cheers,

Bill

The older S8 Vantage was supported by the older AutoScan v5.7 software.
The newer S8 II series requires the new ResScan software.
My pet peeve is that AutoScan supported export of detail data to Excel; ResScan does not.
