Which full face mask do you recommend?
Which full face mask do you recommend?
I love my mask but I dont love the forehead marks and dents it leaves. I am do to get a new complete mask in December. So in the mean time I am searching on what is the best full face mask to purchase. Before I completely try a new mask I am going to try to get one of those padacheek things. I just need to get some extra money first to get one. So what's your opionion on full face mask?
Re: Which full face mask do you recommend?
I just got the padacheek forehead pad yesterday and used it last night and it helped. Have not figured out the best way to use the flap for the nose bridge yet though. I have the ResMed Mirage Quattro and like it a lot. When I am due a new mask I might try the new Respronics full face that is on the market. I was reading some earlier posts about it and they liked it too since it don't have the forehead brace.

Unfortunately, there's no answer to the "which one is best" question. We're all different, and how well any mask works for you is a very individual thing.charlambe wrote:I love my mask but I dont love the forehead marks and dents it leaves. I can only recommend the one I'm using, which is the Respironics FullLife. I'm getting great therapy with it. There's no support across the forehead, which was a bonus for me. If you want to know more details about the FullLife, search the forum, as there's been a bit of discussion on it. HTH

I use the Quattro exclusively and have solved the forehead dents issue. Walmart has a stretchy padded forehead band that is sold in the sporting goods department, by the tennis stuff. It is $1.79 and is perfect for padding my forehead and cushioning the mask piece. I have had no problems with leaks when using it.

I just ordered a respironics Full Life FF mask ,I've been using a Optilife nasal pillow mask but allergy season is coming and no matter what I take or do I get big time congested where I need to breath thru my mouth so since it has basically the same head gear as the Optilife ,I ordered the Full life .
Re: Which full face mask do you recommend?
I am liking my experience with the FullLife mask from Respironics. See my review here:

There is no "perfect" mask for everyone. I really liked the Liberty FFM from ResMed, but as I said in the FullLife review, it was leaking.
It is good to do as much research as you can, and if possible, find a DME that will allow you to test a mask setup with a machine while lying down. That's the best way to try a new mask... but also one of the rarest experiences, I think... My DME even got rid of their bed. I almost said something while I was there, but let it drop b/c I was so happy to get the FullLife from them.
If your only problem is with the forehead pressure, you might do well to try some of the other suggestions here (pad-a-cheek/headband, etc.) before making a wholesale switch to a new mask.
Good luck and sweet dreams!

That's a clue that you have the top straps way too tight. I would suggest loosening them up (a lot) and adjusting the forehead support so that there's no angle to it (turn the dial all the way to the right).charlambe wrote:I love my mask but I dont love the forehead marks and dents it leaves. My preferences are the ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face and/or the Quattro. If they're the right size and properly adjusted, they should NOT make marks or inflict pain. Usually, looser is better.

Re: Which full face mask do you recommend?
I use the Quattro for my reserve/travel mask; I keep a spare machine and mask in my suitcase ready for my frequent travel for work. It's pretty good because you have the adjustments up top, but I have found that the best mask for me is the Mirage Liberty FF, actually a hybrid. Nothing across the forehead at all. It is the best solution I have found, though it took some getting used to. As I have said before, its biggest drawback is no velcro on the strap that goes over the top of the head, but the workaround is using as safety pin to tighten it. You may also need a few days to adjust to the pillows if you haven't used pillows before. And that's my opinion!charlambe wrote:I love my mask but I dont love the forehead marks and dents it leaves. Re: Which full face mask do you recommend?
I think I am going to try a padacheek because I really love the mask. It's just the forehead bar. It's not really tight on my forehead it just makes deep dents in my forehead. So I think the padacheek will work great.
Re: Which full face mask do you recommend?
ResMed Ultra MIrage gets my vote! The Pad-Cheek solution should work. Hope so!

Re: Which full face mask do you recommend?
I used to have marks on my face for maybe 6 hours from my headgear, the Swift LT. Just last week I got a pad-a-cheeks, and I just love it! No more marks at all, and it is so cozy and soft. Wish I had bought it a few months ago. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.
Re: Which full face mask do you recommend?
Yup, PadACheeks is your answer. I'm a committed believer, and now have 4 sets for the different masks I use. I was fortunate to be recently chosen for Karen's trial product testing of her Forehead & Nose Protector. Results will be forthcoming after trying all 3 thicknesses of fleece.....but I can tell you that I love these things for my FFM! (All the usual disclaimers...just very glad that Karen does what she does, and so well!).
DeVilbiss IntelliPap Std Plus with Smartflex; Transcend miniCPAP & Everest2 w/humidifier & batt for travel. UltraMirage FFM; PadACheeks; PaPillow. Using straight CPAP at 13.0/passover humidifier. AHI consistently < 1.5. Began CPAP 9/4/08.

Re: Which full face mask do you recommend?
I have been trying all types of masks since starting CPAP 4 months ago. MY DME pushes one manufacturer so I tried Swift LT, Activa LT and finally the Quattro.
At my own expense tried the Comfortgel FF and F & P Forma (identical to the 432) Model. Without a doubt, the F & P was superior in fit, leak rates and less discomfort.
The silicon and foam cushion sem to really work. I decreased the majority of the discomfort and heat generated by the forehead pads by adding Pad A Cheeks which are awesome.
If the F & P had an adjustable and wider forehead piece, it would be the ideal mask, in my opinion.
Of course, all of the above works for me. You need to trial and error for yourself to see which is the best overall fit for you

The Quattro just never worked/fit well for me. I love my Ultra Mirage FFM. Seals with a loose enough adjustment that it leaves no marks.
