If all else fails, you might try gluing something to the Start/Stop button to act as a handle. I would use either cyanoacrylate (krazy glue) or epoxy. Then you would be able to pull the button up more easily.

Someone else here posted that they had only very recently heard about the recall, checked that their S8 was eligible and was successful in having it replaced.

Cheers,

Bill

Call ResMed at 800-434-0737 and ask for Tech. service dept. Give them your serial number and let them tell you if its warranty or not. Sometime they will give you a break. Good luck, rjonz

All I can say is WOW.

I just called the recall line for the ResMed recall. The recall was initiated in April of 2007. I was on an automated system for 3 or 4 minutes .... just long enough to choose my language and enter my serial number. The auto system verified my S/N was affected by the recall and it transferred me to a live person. The phone only rang 2 times before a live person picked up. He verified my S/N and asked me for my DME company name. I explained that I was in the process of getting set up with a new company and the old company was not cooperating and he said "no problem. I will contact the nearest povider to your zip code and set up the authorization for the exchange." He was calling them tonight, even though he knew that they were already closed, so that he could leave them a voicemail about the exchange request. He told me that if they were not able to do it, he would call the next closest and keep going till he got someone who was willing to help. He gave me his name and direct line phone number in case I had any other questions. I was off the phone in less than 10 minutes total.

ResMed is AWESOME.

Now I don't need to worry about the crap with the old DME and the new DME. I will just buy me a new H4i upgrade kit and be happy as a clam in sleep.....

Oh yeah....for anyone who needs the recall phone number and web site...here it is http://www.resmed.com/us/s8program/amr/ ... nc=aboutus

Great news, quotmastr! I wonder if you'll get another Escape or the quieter Escape II....

Well, I got my new machine. It is an S8 Ecape, just like the broken one. I'm thrilled with it.

The new one's broken too?

Congrats! Now you can open up the old one, take pics and upload 'em for us to see.

lol .... it took me a sec to realize what you meant about the new one being broken.

Unfortunately I can't take pics. Part of the recall replacement included the DME that did the exchange to send the old one back to ResMed.
