New S8 Autoset II and questions

Post by biggziff » Sat Aug 29, 2009 7:28 am

So I picked up an S8 Autoset II as my Remstar Auto is getting long in the tooth. I only have a couple nights on the new machine, but the results aren't what I normally saw with the Remstar. My last 6 month's data on the Remstar was an AHI of 5.4 or so and an AI of around 1. The Resmed is showing AHI of 8.8 and AI of 1.3 and leak with a Swift II of .22 L/s.

Question is, does the S8's leak display take into consideration the mask's published flow/leak rate meaning is the leak rate on the display the actual leak rate?

Does the S8 score AHI more aggressively than the Respironics stuff, typically?

Obviously, the data on the new machine is not a good statistical set yet, but I'm curious what the general consensus is.

Thanks!

Assuming that your Mask Selection is set for the Swift, the reported Leak rate is the ACTUALY 95% percentile Leak. The Resmeds subtract the allowed vent rate for their masks from the reported leak rate as long as the Mask Selection is correct.

See Velbor's thread for some discussion of Respironics vs Resmed data.
