Stomach and lower intestinal GAS

Post by flitestik » Tue Sep 20, 2005 8:43 am

Hello all:

I have been on my Solo machine for several months now and notice that each morning I have the need to release stomach gas and wondered if that were a problem for most? the release causes me to burp mostly.

Has anyone experienced the room spinning when they wake up in the morn? I have experienced this a couple of times lately.

I feel so much better having done this CPAP thing, so for those new and in the research mode as I was, take this as a positive experience remark. I am 192 lbs 5 foot 10 so not overweight particularly, but I have been battling the "nods" for years before the treatment. So good luck newbies.

Dave

NOT gas

Technically, you do not have GAS.
at least the normal metabolic type we are more familiar with.
Do a search on aerophagia and it is very common in PAP users. It is usually self limiting and does not be a real problem in the long run.
It is air, not gas.

The common "gas" remedies such as mylanta or gasX are totally worthless.
Sitting up may lessen it- It may, in extreme cases, require a lowering of the pressure.

Hi,

Above 14 cms I am guaranteed to end up with air in my stomach. It is very much more pronounced if I use a nasal mask vs a f/f mask.

It is common for me to burp during the night (I think I have trained myself to do it automatically as too much air becomes a bellyache).

I often wonder what the machine registers in its data when I do this

Below 14 it almost goes away.

I am learning to live with it but am constantly 'lab ratting' to try & find solutions or to at least try to develop a good understanding of the dynamics of the activity.

Cheers
