The Perfect Doctor

Post by yawn » Mon Sep 19, 2005 3:16 pm

I have FINALLY found the perfect doctor!!!!! The last 2 docs I've talked to didn't know squat about OSA. This guy was amazing. I walked in with 3 weeks worth of data and he understood all of it. I pulled out my Smart Card and he knew what it was. Unfortunately his card reader is broken but that was ok because I had printed everything. It was so nice to talk to somebody that actually understood my questions....AND HE HAD ANSWERS...not guesses...ANSWERS!! I felt like somebody who speaks a foreign language that nobody else understands....and then I found the 1 person who does understand. He immediately made 3 suggestions that I will do starting today. I have a return visit in 5 weeks and we'll see if we need to do some tweaking. He says there's a chance I may have some narcolepsy (because my daughter has it very badly) but we're not going to worry about that just yet. I'm switching my daughter over to this guy as quickly as possible. Can you tell that I'm just a "little" excited??? I finally feel like there's hope for me. It's too bad there aren't more doctors like this guy.
If anybody lives in the Indianapolis, Indiana area and want to find out this guy's name, just send me a PM.

Great news that you and your daughter have found a great doctor! The ones that understand sleep disorders seem to be few and far between. Best of luck with your continuing recovery!

Pass along any comments he may have that the rest of us could use!

Amy, that is excellent news. Finding the right doctor, one who knows what is going on and understands what the patient is going through, is a major key to treating any medical condition, I believe.

Hey Bill,
It's such a relief to have a doctor that understands all the "lingo" and how the machines and masks work. He had me increase my pressure from 10 to 12 because my "snores" were pretty high (as has a 90 on some days). Last night, I set the pressure to 12 and I only had 3 snores! Unfortunately, I still feel like crap....but maybe I'm moving in the right direction.

We all wish you the best, Amy. You really do deserve it. You have tried so hard, but you can only do so much with an incompetent doctor advising you on what to do. Hopefully this will be the start of energetic times ahead finally.
