Dry sore throat, haven't been able to actually fall asleep more than 7 minutes ( woke myself up gasping) set at 4. Need help!

Re-set machine to begin with at least 5 or 6...most of us feel 4 is waaay too little air. Or, if that's the ramp, don't use it and go immediately to full pressure IF you can't raise the ramp pressure.

A little more info, please? Pressure setting? Ramp settings? What kind of mask?

Please fill in your Profile (click on User Control Panel, top left of the page) and choose TEXT to list your equipment from the drop-down menus. Put your pressure info (and any other details) in the Comments section. Then that info will appear at the foot of all of your posts, so we'll know what your set-up is when we offer suggestions.

Dry sore throat usually indicates mouth-breathing. If you're using a full-face mask, up the humidity level. If you're using a nasal mask, you're probably leaking therapy through your mouth. Try a chinstrap, try taping your mouth closed at night, try denture adhesive to seal your lips. (If you're losing therapy through your lips with a nasal mask, you're not getting what you need from your CPAP machine.)

Please provide more info so we can zero in on the problem you're having and offer you more specific help.

Oh, and welcome to the forum. Start reading.
