leonbergergirl,
i just got my software and card reader last week. i ordered ResScan ver 3.7 from cpapaustralia.com and the card reader from cpap.com. both arrived in a timely manner. i called my credit card company prior to ordering the software so their fraud department wouldn't block the purchase...and everything went off well. i understand you no longer have to call cpapaustralia to order...should be able to order it online.

i read on this forum that the card reader is better than using the USB cable....more reliable. if i were in your boat, i would buy a desktop, load it with XP and use it for your cpap therapy. big purchase, i know, but you're in it for the long haul. at least with a laptop you could take it with you when you go out of town.

having the software has made a big, big difference. it is empowering! good luck!

El Pap - I didn't get it it from that site, rather, from usenext - the other torrent server I listed in the post. Unfortunately there was no disclaimer on there. In fact, after finding that what I had gotten was an illegal copy I did some further research and was amazed at the sheer volume of illegal software available there. Had there been a disclaimer I wouldn't have downloaded it, but, now that I know.
Today it is becoming increasingly difficult to tell the difference between the good and the bad. That old saying really does apply - if it's too good to be true then it isn't true.
As for peer-to-peer downloading - yeah, I'm aware of that - but was ignorant that Usenext (a subscription servcie) was actually a peer-to-peer server - or, again, I would have avoided it.
Hopefully my earlier post will help somebody else avoid the same problem.

I did indeed, but clearly you didn't.

I just ordered the reader, software, and card from cpapaustralia.com -- I have faith that by the time it gets here I will have a new machine that will produce some data!

Jim --

I hate to tell you this, but the ResMed Escape II only tracks compliance data -- the number of hours you use the machine each day.

If you got the machine from a DME, you should immediatly try to get it upgraded to an S8 Elite II. If it is covered by insurance you may be able to get the upgrade for free. Your DME might try to fight you on this because they make more money on the cheaper machine, but don't give in.

Good for you!

If you are getting your machine from a DME, send me a PM with an email address, and I can reply with instructions for your machine that the DME doesn't want you to see.
