Another newbie Canuck!

Howdy folks,

I'm a newly diagnosed OSA patient and CPAP user from Ontario, Canada who very luckily stumbled upon this forum while researching OSA/CPAP between my titration study and uh Monday when i got my CPAP machine and I wanted to express my thanks to the folks on this board for providing a ton of awesome information for new CPAP users which has been invaluable to me in educating myself about OSA/CPAP.

In mid July my Sleep Doc told me the results of my sleep study and quite frankly I was less than pleased about it, mainly becasue he presented it as "you have sleep apnea and if you don't start treatment of it within a month after your titration study I'm obliged to report you to the Ministry of Transportation who will revoke your drivers license" in a bit of a confrontational manner. After cooling down, i decided i needed to find out as much as i could about it and so hit the web and found this great site!

Thanks to the info from this forum and the Ontario ADP site I fought with the DME, who wanted to give me a C series Tango machine and ended up with a Resmed C8 Escape II with a basic Resmed Meridian nasal mask. ( I have to wait for ODSP to pay the DME to get a Comfort Fusion mask that i picked out)

Tonight will be my 3rd night on the machine and i am gradually getting used to the mask I think, although after having it rubbing on the bridge of my nose is making me consider trying a nasal pillow mask.

Could anyone recommend where to purchase the software and card reader for the S8 Escape II as the DME refuses to even discuss it. (the clinical menu on the machine is supposed to be "locked" too but that was easy enough to figure out how to unlock.

Thank you again for being such a great resource!!

I believe the ResMed Escape II is NOT data capable other than compliance or hours of use.

To utilize the software (needs to be bought from Australia) you need Elite II.

We can help you with the software/supplies issue but your machine is not fully data capable. You need an elite II.
Go back to your DME and fight some more with them until you get a data capable machine.

The one they gave you is capable of recording compliance only. No usable data other than that. Go back. You have 30 days to change machines and don't let them tell you no. They are passing off a cheaper machine and charging the gov't the exact same amount they would a better machine. Got to help those profit margins!!!
