I'm not, but I don't think you should or could get disability for something that can be treated successfully if you want it to be. Apply Air, and sleep. Jim

Hello,
As a Veteran and a taxpayer (yep-they even tax unemployment) I heard about this 50% for apnea and I think it is a bunch of garbage. No wonder this country is going broke. Why should you get any disability for a condition that the military is in no way responsible for and would have showed up anyway? I have really severe apnea and no one is going to pay me the rest of my life.

I believe it is a perk for potentially putting ones life on the line for ones country for horrendously bad pay.Why should you get any disability for a condition that the military is in no way responsible for and would have showed up anyway

Eric_M,
I am recieving 50% disability, however it is NOT automatic for every retiring/ETS'ing service member. I'll drop you a PM later today.
Mr Sandman,
There have been many studies over the years which point to stress as one of many factors which may lead to the development of OSA. There are ofcourse many more factors, but research has been unable to say that it requires many or just one factor to develope OSA. I for one am grateful for my VA disability, my insurance at my current employer will not pay for sanything CPAP related until I get another sleep study, which they will not pay for because it is a pre-existing condition. So this leaves me paying out of my pocket (yes I am aware there are many who do that anyway), for all my supplies.
