I GOT A QUATTRO! Not Happy with Results

Post by socalmonkey » Sat Aug 15, 2009 8:26 pm

It came today... my new Mirage Quattro Full Face!

No, I am not giving up on my mask quest for the FullLife. I've just never had a full face mask before and couldn't wait any longer. It arrived just in time, because last night (for the first time since having data) I experienced a "large leak". Plus I've been doing a lot of mouth breathing lately.

Tonight will be my first night with the Quattro. I'm really excited. It's a very nice mask. But I would have been up the creek, if I didn't already have a medium Mirage Activa LT. Because I had to swap out the head gear. The small sized Quattro, came with really small sized head gear. I could barely make the velcro on the top piece, fit around my fat head! But a quick head gear swap fixed that issue.

With the small size Quattro, I'm getting a comfortable fit. But it seems like there is little room for error. I think putting this mask on in front of the mirror, might be a good idea each night. This thing has to be in just the right spot. We'll see. I hope I didn't really need a medium.

So on Monday, I go back to bugging the big "A" about the FullLife. I will not rest until I get them to carrier the FullLife.

Well... at least I will rest with my Quattro until they do!

You got an all-wheel-drive Audi? Congratulations.

Oh, I read your post. Never mind.

But here's to the first night with the new mask, anyway.

I feel like crap! My first night with the Mirage Quattro Full Face was not good. I completely headed in the wrong direction and I don't understand why.

My leak rate does not seem all that out of control. But I had more clustered events than I normally do with my Mirage Activa LT Nasal.

Take a look at the past week. The first one is with the Quattro, the others (in descending order) are with the Activa LT.

This mask is so silent, that it's very easy to hear and correct leaks. So I don't understand why I got worse results. I had that thing cranked down so much (surprised there wasn't major marks on my face)... and it was not leaking at all with head movement. I was getting a very good seal and fit.

Pressure was set at a range of 11 to 20cm. [Correction: the last one on the 9th was at 10 to 20cm - the next night I bumped to 11 to 20cm]

So I don't get it. I am totally bummed. That's what I get for betraying my fantasy FullLife girl friend!

Ah the joy of the FullLife mask.

When mine gets a leak you here psst, then the mask seals itself.

I'm one happy FullLife mask user.

The Quatrro takes a little fiddling to get right, I never could get mine to seal properly. That is with the headgear that came with it.

However I when i put the headgear from my Hybrid on my Quattro, it was a whole different ballgame.

Can I hijack this for a second, please!!

AAdjuster, I'm understanding you correctly that you put the headgear from your Hybrid on the Quattro and it works better? My husband has a Quattro and has so much trouble with leaks at a pressure of 19. I use the Hybrid and have headgear that is not needed (the leftovers from the many mask sets I've had to order from the DME when I only needed the cushion or pillows. I use them because of insurance, and they say they can't sell anything but the whole set).

Thanks!

Pam

I never could get the Quattro to fit correctly. It had one leak after another. It got so bad that I changed it out for the Ultra. I was told by my DME that there was nothing different between the Ultra and the Quattro, he did not see why one would work and the other wouldn't.

Believe me, there is a difference.

CAMonk, the Quattro is a dance w/the devil.
One night, oh so nice.
The next....it just tempts you w/the allusion of sleep......
and the more you try the louder it laughs.

The Quattro was my FullLife lure of de mask.
I was enamored w/the engineering and aesthetics of the Q.
I wanted it to be THE MASK.
I tried night after night, size after size.......
....a dance w/the devil.

That said, if you think you can control this beast,
I would suggest that you raise your min. pressure.
Looks like it is too low to prevent events and takes
too long to respond to them, w/either mask.
One night does not a successful mask make.
Patience my son.

I didn't get it either and was totally bummed, it's de lure of de mask.
We've all been down that road, once or twice or .......

I was fortunate, I walked away from the FullLife......and my trusty UM remains tried and true.

Thanks carbonman! That sounds like good advise. I was thinking about doing that with the old mask. Seeing if I can improve those numbers first. Then maybe try the full face again.

The thing that puzzled me, was the leak rate seemed more controlled with the Quattro than the LT, yet I had more events and at higher pressure. So I don't understand the mysteries of the mask.

I'm still waiting for my ultimate new slim girl friend to come around. This Quattro IS a beast!

Back she went! As in gone... out of here!

My brief affair with the Quattro is over.

I never should have strayed.

It's over.

The end.

Socal, Now I'm really wondering how you would have fared with the UMFF. The Q was my hubby's Beast too in every way, but his UM is a pussycat(of course, after an adjustment period). Are you at all curious?

Thanks... I thought about the UMFF. I've heard good things about it. But my dream mask is on it's way!

See other thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=43587&start=165

Hopefully I will get more than sweet dreams with it... like LOWER numbers... that is what this quest is ultimately all about.

I love my Quattro and we're talking a 20 pressure here. No leaks & it floats on my face.
