Back of head itches where mask straps lay

Post by Dot » Fri Sep 16, 2005 8:45 am

I have tried washing the straps with tide, didn`t help, with woolite, - no help, even tried dawn dish detergent in case was from hair oil on straps. Actually my hair isn`t oily, but was feeling desperate for some way to stop the itching on the bones on back of head at base of skull.
Anyone else ever have this problem. Doc has no new ideas for me to try.
I did find one place on net where it said sometimes the strap pulls on the hair affecting the hair follicles and can cause itching. So, tried loosening strap- didn`t help.
Anyone have other ideas I might try that might stop the itching just on those base bones?
Thanks for any help you might give.

Itching Scalp

Hi Dot,
Read your post and suggest you might try a herbal hair and scalp treatment. I have one that contains ginseng, Rosemany, Indian Hemp and Horsetail that I purchased at First Choice Haircutters in Ottawa. A beauty supply place might sell it or any number of places. It is a cream that you put on your fingertips and run through your hair or put some on the comb. It reduces itching, promotes growth and alleviates dryness. Just reading from the jar. Mine is "Design Essentials Herbal Complex 4". The website for this company is http://www.designessentials.com if you are interested in looking it up. Let me know if you decide to try this and if it works for you. CareS

Thanks CareS. I went into the site and read up on their suggestions. It mentioned drinking more water and using a hair conditioner that moistens the head. So, I will first try this, and if that doesn`t help we do have a place locally that sells herbal items. They may have the item you mention, or another simular one for treating the dry itchy bone area at the base of the scull. Certainly worth a try. There is no dandruff or flaky scalp, but the scalp could still be too dry.
Thanks again for the helpful idea. I appreciate your looking up the site for me.
Have a nice evening, Dot
