I recently purchased a Reslink II unit (PN 22206) for my S8 Auto Vantage (not II). It came with a SmartMedia card reader (CR-V7-US).
My Windows XP (Home) SP3 computer sees the card in My Computer as Removable Disk (E), and lists the various folders and files.
When I open AutoScan 5.7, a box shows that Device: Smart Card Media is connected. However, when I click on Download-Smart Media Card-Detailed Data, a message appears: This flow generator is not supported by Autoscan.
I have carefully studied past posts on this issue and tried various suggestions (e.g., turn off wireless adapter, download updated driver from acs, etc.) without success.
I would appreciate any suggestions to get this to work.
Thanks,
Chazz
Issues Downloading Reslink SmartMedia card with Autoscan 5

You may have to upgrade your software to ResScan.

Re: Issues Downloading Reslink SmartMedia card with Autoscan 5
Two (or possibly more) issues here.
The S8 AutoSet Vantage (not II) is supported and recognized by AutoScan v5.7. AutoScan v5.7 does accept ResScan smartcard data (when input through a ResMed-compatible card reader) and does recognize the machine.
ResLink is an entirely different matter, and ResLink smartcards and ResScan smartcards are different creatures.
My experience is limited to the S7 ResLink unit, which is very different from the S8 ResLink unit. The smartcard used by the S7 ResLink is readable by many generic card readers. The S7 ResLink card data from an S7 AutoSet Spirit is readable by AutoScan v5.7; I do not know whether the output of the S7 and S8 ResLink cards are identical physically and electronically, and whether the S8 ResLink card format is fully compatible with the AutoScan software. That may be the reason for the "unsupported flow generator" message: it may not be the S8 Vantage flow generator which is not recognized, but rather the S8 ResLink output.
Input will be needed from someone who has experience with both the S8 ResLink and the AutoScan v5.7 software.
My suggestion, pending more information, is to temporarily cease using ResLink rather than discarding AutoScan. ResLink, in my experience, provides rather little useful information beyond what the ResScan card will provide directly from the Vantage through AutoScan or ResScan. The ResScan software provides rather little functional advantage over the AutoScan software, while Autoscan has the tremendous advantage of being able to export detail data to Excel.
One other option is to open the ResLink files independently of the software, load them into Excel, figure out the data format, and learn to read hexadecimal (base 16) numbers (digits 0123456789abcdef). I've been able to do this with some of the S7 ResLink data files. But trust me, it's not worth the effort.
I gave up using ResLink entirely long before I moved from the S7 to the S8 blower. Unless you're using it as an oximeter adapter (and sometimes even then), it just isn't worth the bother.

Re: Issues Downloading Reslink SmartMedia card with Autoscan 5
The detailed data from an S8 II is higher resolution (25Hz) than for an S8 or S7, so its not surprising that Autoscan will not recognise it.Velbor wrote:I do not know whether the output of the S7 and S8 ResLink cards are identical physically and electronically
The screen data presentation in ResScan is far superior to Autoscan.Velbor wrote:The ResScan software provides rather little functional advantage over the AutoScan software

jdm2857 was on the mark: I installed Rescan 3.7 and the SmartMedia card was successfully downloaded.
I don't understand why this would not work with AutoScan 5.7. Resmed people said it should work with AutoScan.
Thanks for your helpful posts

AutoScan is an old version of the software. As already mentioned ResScan is the current product. The version numbers may have confused you.chazz wrote:I recently purchased a Reslink II unit (PN 22206) for my S8 Auto Vantage (not II). It came with a SmartMedia card reader (CR-V7-US).

Good luck.
PS Resmeds ResLink data cards can be read by any el-cheapo $15 Smart Media reader - these cards do not need an expensive reader. Have posted many examples & links on this topic in the past. Am sure a search using Smart Media for posts by DSM will give you a rich hit list.
For anyone interested - here were some links (may still work)
