ResScan software or reader not working
ResScan software or reader not working
Having difficulty getting the latest ResScan software and ResScan card reader to work. Loaded everything as directed and get the message "there are no devices available for downloading data"..... It would not let me enter that information either. I'm doing something wrong, I guess. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Re: ResScan software or reader not working
Make sure the card is inserted with the correct orientation... this one still zings me once in a while.

Re: ResScan software or reader not working
To clarify, the card goes into the S8 with the printed side up, and into the card reader with the gold contact side up.
One other question: did you get a Visual C++ Message Box with a message about devicescan2.exe requesting termination in an unusual way?

Re: ResScan software or reader not working
I have been really frustrated by the interaction between ResScan 3.7 and the card reader. In looking for a sure way to get it to work every time I found the following steps seem to always be successful:
- First plug the card reader in to your favorite USB port and wait for the success chime
- Then start Resscan
- Open the patient and only then insert the card
- Make sure the light on the card reader isn't flashing steadily at about once per second. If it is pull the card out and reinsert it
- Click the download button and ignore the first complaint about no available devices if you see it
- Then you can start your download successfully
- Make sure you select the data you are after as it always defaults to the summary data only

I am puzzled about why you think this is abnormalabq_guy wrote:Make sure the light on the card reader isn't flashing steadily at about once per second. If it is pull the card out and reinsert it
The light should be flashing steadily at about once per second
You shouldn't see device unavailable messages if the card reader is installed properly and has a working card inserted corectty in it.abq_guy wrote:Click the download button and ignore the first complaint about no available devices if you see it

Re: ResScan software or reader not working
Thanks to all who made comments/suggestions. Still not working. The card fooled me once, but then I read the directions and learned about the gold thing facing upwards in the card reader. I downloaded data from the VPAP machine (or at least this was shown as being successfully copied on the VPAP machine). I will reload the software and ResScan drivers again to see if that works.....but my hopes are not real high at this point! Encore Pro was much easier! Anyway...wish me luck!!

Which version of Windows are you using? Service Pack?
And I'll ask again: Did you get a Visual C++ Message Box with a message about devicescan2.exe requesting termination in an unusual way?

For Vista, you should download and install the latest driver from ACS.
Choose the PC/SC Vista version, either with the MSI installer (easy install) or just the driver if you want to do a manual install.
Here's the page: http://www.acs.com.hk/drivers-manual.php?driver=ACR38

Re: ResScan software or reader not working
Okay - here is the current situation - I reloaded the ACS driver from the website again. The ResScan card reader's green light blinks steadily at about 1/sec.....so I guess that is the norm. When I place the card in the reader, the light flickers rapidly for a couple seconds and then settles back down to the 1/sec blink. The VPAP machine seems to recognize the card when I downloaded the data this morning. I continue to get the message that "there are NO devices available for downloading data" and when I press "okay" it shows a screen to begin downloading data specific data, but the "start download" button is not available (it is not lit up to allow any download). So, I guess the question is do I have a faulty reader or a faulty card? Any help is much appreciated!

A little more information ---- I note under the Download Data page, the DEVICE is not listed - should it be? I could not find a place to indicate which machine is being used. Also, all COM ports are available and not excluded.

Re: ResScan software or reader not working
Also, if you have a wireless card or built-in wireless in your PC/laptop, remove it or turn it off.
I don't mean disconnect it, I mean press the Function Key combo to turn off power to the wireless device or remove the card if it is separate.
I have a RealTek wireless card in my Gateway laptop and I have to turn it off via FN + F2 before the card reader will work.
Looks like it might be a resource conflict. No solution as of yet, but this is a work around.

Re: ResScan software or reader not working
That was it! That was the problem all along. I hard wired my other wireless laptop PC to the modem and disabled the wireless feature. Everything is totally working on that PC!!Post by klockemy on Fri Aug 07, 2009 8:19 am
