ResMed Elite HELP

Post by Sleepless In Arizona » Fri Jul 31, 2009 6:13 pm

I am originally from Ohio, and I am visiting Arizona. Just my luck, as I'm on vacation my cpap decides to stop working. I just don't know what to do. It says to check the hose, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the hose. I have tried cleaning the hose and machine to no avail. Could it be the change in altitude? Can anyone help me? This is going to me a miserable vacation if I can't get some sleep!

What exactly does the machine do when you plug it in?

What does the screen say?

What happens when you try to turn it on?

Check Hose... some ideas...

-make sure the hose is not blocked
-make sure the hose is connected correctly to the machine and your mask
-hold the palm of your hand over one end of the hose and blow into the other... is air escaping?

According to the Troubleshooting section of the user guide:

Displays error message:Check tube || Key if done

Air tubing is loose or blocked

Check that the air tubing is connected securely to your mask and the air outlet to the front of the S8 Series II. When you have checked the air tubing, press the Start/Stop key to restart the device. If this does not clear the message, disconnect the power cord and then reconnect it to restart the device.

Hope this helps.

I had an S8 Elite machine a year ago that did this. I now have its replacement S8 Elite SII that is having this problem.

I think it needs factory repair to fix this. It did the first time and they gave me a new machine.

Too bad it is while you are one vacation. I just got back from Hawaii 3 days ago before failure. I have a spare machine at home but, of course, not in Hawaii.

I am trying to find on the internet whether this problem is common. These units do not seem to be reliable.
