Rusty can you post that link or Pm me with it--i've been to the resmed site and can NOT find any videos relating to CSA ThanksRustyolddude wrote:Centrals generally just require a different machine so no reason to panic. Instead of simply splinting the airway open, the machine detects the central event and supports your breathing until you take over. There's a pretty good 3 part video series on the Resmed site that explains it. You'll be just fine.karessamom wrote:Update--I'm a little scared!!-- I shouldn't be I know but I was looking online at my health profile from my insurance company and my pcp dxed me with Central SA (prior to the sleep study) Normally i'd just blow that off for right now as maybe wrong code or something but when I combine it with what little the tech told me and my symptoms and reading a little about CSA--I'm putting 2 and 2 together and not likeing it! I won't get my results back probably until Tuesday because dr. is out of town. (i just called to see if they had it) I guess i'm more than a little scared right now. Hopefully it won't be that bad and can be easily treated, although I know that centrals are not as easily treated as obstructive.

The link really does a good job explaining complex sleep apnea, complex & central are very closely related.karessamom wrote:Rusty can you post that link or Pm me with it--i've been to the resmed site and can NOT find any videos relating to CSA ThanksRustyolddude wrote:Centrals generally just require a different machine so no reason to panic. Re: Waiting now for Sleep Study! Finally!
I needed a bipap but DME gave me a Resmed VPAP Auto. Quietness, automated-I just put on the mask at night and that is it. Yes, I clean the mask and nasal area every night, but after a year it is the best thing for me. I have had several older members from my family try CPAP and would not wear one. I showed them mine and they remarked how quiet it was compared to the test or rental machines they were given.

BiPAP and VPAP are trademarks (BiPAP is Respironics, VPAP is ResMed) for lines of similar bilevel CPAP machines.
