TimeOut on Posts

Post by Goofproof » Thu Jul 30, 2009 1:16 pm

I think it would be useful if the powers to be "Locked" posts over 1 year old. By allowing old posts to be added to as if they were current, a lot of old outdated info is put out here, and read as if it is now correct. The Old Dogs know the difference, but not the new folks.

I am NOT saying delete anything, just let it be viewed for what it worth, and keep the info. If someone want to ask questions, or something open a new thread addressing your current needs. Jim

I agree.
Realized I needed help when I woke up halfway in the wrong lane on the highway and saw oncoming traffic trying to dodge me. Fell asleep again in <2miles.

Ohhh, I don't know. I think I'd rather leave all old topics as they are, unlocked.

I know what you mean about old topics inadvertently being brought up to page one occasionally and treated like a current topic, but I don't really see any harm in that. Can actually be interesting (even to old dogs...lol ) to read an old topic again. If there was misinformation or outdated info in it, that can always be corrected with a new reply.

Besides, I'd not like to be locked out of editing my old "links" topics from time to time.

Sorry, Jim.......but I'm going to be the contrarian here and disagree.

I'm sure there are various reasons why some of those old threads get resurrected, but they don't seem to be as frequent as they were when the spam bots were plaguing the board. I also happen to enjoy reading some of those old ones now and then.

In fact, there's the old thread that was the first one I posted to on this forum......and I've been thinking about resurrecting it again for the new users. And......will.

And, I see Laura thinks the same way I do.

It is real simple... check the posting date of the posts in the thread.

Some information remains the same while other information can become obsolete.
