A handful of times, I have an AI of zero. The lowest AHI I've had is 1.3 or so. ResMeds are supposedly sensitive to HIs (shallow breathing) so they can record up to twice the amount other brands will. If you take that into account, my lowest AHI would be around 0.7.
My average AI is 0.2.
My average HI is 2.0.
My average AHI (total) is 2.2.
How do I feel? On most days I feel really good, which is the most important measure of your therapy next to getting an oximeter. I don't own one, but I might get one if I ever get a little extra money.
Will I reach an AHI of zero? Should I?

Re: Will I reach an AHI of zero? Should I?
My personal opinion is that events of substantial duration time wise, could impact O2 levels. Also if someone has several events (moderate length time wise) back to back, these could also impact 02 levels. So limiting events limits the chances of these 2 possibilities occurring. I have no proof. Just a "stands to reason" type of thinking.dseturam wrote:So if the number of AHIs I have has no bearing on my oxygen level, then how can I increase my oxygen level?
Hold your breath for 20 seconds each minute for an hour and see what happens to O2 levels.. When I get the money to get a pulse oximeter I will tell just that thought.
I had apnea events lasting 40 seconds during my sleep study, desats to 73%. I know when I see those dark green clusters of events on my report that will usually explain the morning headache if I had a bad night. When the money truck arrives I will buy the tool to most likely confirm my suspicions.

Re: Will I reach an AHI of zero? Should I?
tattooyu is right. My machine is too sensitive. I was just lying down and reading a book for 20 mintues with the mask et al. Out of curiosity I checked my reading and it had an AHI of 12.7. Since I was awake the whole time, I think every moment I made or tried to scratch my nose, it has recorded it as an AHI.
Re: Will I reach an AHI of zero? Should I?
I wondered about this myself. Last night I had a AHI of 3.6, but 30-40% of my OA's came in the first 15 minutes, a time I am certain I was still awake. What gives, and what would my resulting AHI be if not for those first 15 minutes?dseturam wrote:tattooyu is right. My machine is too sensitive. Re: Will I reach an AHI of zero? Should I?
When I first got my machine, it was recording lots of events while I was awake. Now that I'm pretty much used to it, I notice it rarely scores events when I'm awake, and when it does, it's usually just a hypop or two.Jason S. wrote:I wondered about this myself. Re: Will I reach an AHI of zero? Should I?
That's why I use the Ramp/Settling feature (25-30 minutes) on my machine. Not because I need the pressure relief, but so that it doesn't record "events" while I'm still awake.Jason S. wrote:I wondered about this myself. Re: Will I reach an AHI of zero? Should I?
Last night I had no events recorded prior to sleeping. That's a good thing, but I can't help but wonder about the veracity of the data when stuff just shows up as OA's. How do I know the OA's that showed up when I was asleep are real?tattooyu wrote: That's why I use the Ramp/Settling feature (25-30 minutes) on my machine.
