nose ulcers from cpap

Post by JosephElliott » Sun Jul 26, 2009 12:25 pm

From the start I have had an ulcer form on the bridge of my nose when using the cpap machine.
It makes no difference whether I have it too tight or too slack I still get the ulcer. I have even had it refitted in hot water to help to mould it to my face. I am at a loss how to proceed and am no longer wearing it.

Try putting something between your skin and the mask. I use fine knit 100% cotton as a gasket between my skin and the mask otherwise it is like I have a burn where it touches.

There are a variety of options, all better than not receiving treatment for your sleep apnea.
Among them are:

-- padding with "moleskin"
-- padding with a commercial product (e.g. see http://www.padacheek.com/PAC_Nosebridge.html )
-- obtain a different type of interface (e.g. nasal pillows)
-- obtain a different brand or model of nasal mask
-- obtain several different brands/models of mask and alternate use (they will not all press in the same spot)

Others will provide additional recommendations.
There are ways to work around this. It's important that you seek them out.
Best of luck. Velbor

I had the same problem with the comfortgel mask and could not seem to solve it, so went to nasal pillows (Swift LT for Her) Love it!!!

I had ComfortGel. Small fabric bandage worked for me.
