Nose Irritation

Post by judyhorowitz » Sat Jul 25, 2009 7:38 am

Every full face mask I have used causes bad irritation to my nose bridge no matter how I adjust the headgear. If I make it loose, I get leaks around my eyes. I have tried the clever Pad-a-Cheek gadgets, but they also cause leaks. Does anyone have a good suggestion for this problem?

I've been thinking of trying a full-face mask that doesn't make contact with the nose bridge.

Namely, either the Mirage Liberty or the FitLife

Though tried a demo of the FitLife at DME, and the large wasn't big enough. So will probably inquire about the other the next time I'm in. Though am curious to see what kind of seal the FullLife has....

The FitLife seal is quite different...and wonder if they can use that on other masks...

The Dreamer.

For me I just kept at it for a couple of weeks and the bridge of my nose toughened up. It's no longer an issue now. Basically I just had to keep at it long enough to adapt.

Hi all...

Let me give idea to you people on Nose Surgery..

Rhinoplasty , also called plastic surgery of the nose or a "nose job," is a very popular procedure that can make profound differences not only in the balance of facial features, but also in a person’s self-esteem. The aesthetic improvements that a rhinoplasty surgeon can make include decreasing or increasing the size of the nose, altering the tip or bridge of the nose, and narrowing or changing the shape of the nostrils. Learn more about the nose surgery procedure, its cost, the possible risks and benefits of nose surgery, and more.

Rhinoplasty is a type of cosmetic surgery that is performed in order to reshape the nose. Although rhinoplasty is most often sought for cosmetic reasons, it can also help correct structural defects that may cause breathing problems.

I have had the same problem. This morning it occurred to me that I could put some of that Nexcare paper tape (surgical) on the bridge of my nose and that would protect it. In the US it is available at any drugstore. I used to use it to tape my mouth shut before I went to a ff mask, and it comes off comfortably. I'll let you know how this works.

I had the same problem, and solved it by placing a small band aid on the mask.

You may already have tried the Mirage Quattro, but I've found that the adjustable forehead support works for me. As I experiment, I can find the sweet spot where nothing hard touches the bridge of my nose any more, but the gap is small. This reduces the leaks around the eyes to an occasional spurt when I move my head against the pillow wrong. It's not perfect, but it's satisfactory. I had a sore red nose for a few days until working this out, but I have not had any pain since, only a little redness in the morning.
