remstar pro m question

Post by mustangs1133 » Thu Jul 23, 2009 7:47 pm

Hello All,
I am new here and I think this is a better forum than my old chevy truck forum...lol
I really do have a problem that one of you fine folks may have had or may be experiencing now as well......I get water in the hose from the humidifier and it eventually makes it into my face mask resulting in a popping noise and excessive moisture (water) in my mask.
I have had a cpap since 1995 and just recently got this new machine to replace my old unit that started to sound like a school bus when slowing down.
The unit is set up really, no different than my other one, just wondering if it may be the machine or something I am doing wrong.
Thanks,
Mark

Sounds like something referred to as "rain-out". Do you have a humidifier? I had a similar problem when I had my humidifier on in a really cold room. What was happening was the warm moist air was cooling in the hose. A solution for this is to get one of those hose wrap things. It's basically like a jacket for the hose. I got one, works great and no more rain.

That's rainout. Basically, the moisture in the air of the hose is cooling enough to condensate. It will help to run the tube under the covers and over your body so your body heat will help keep it warm. If that isn't enough...

1. Reduce the setting on the humidifier. You might even need to use it in passover mode to stop the condensation.
2. Get a hose cover.
3. Get a Reptile cable to run under your hose cover.
4. Get an Aussie Heated Hose.

You should be able to search to find information about any of the options.

Is there a way to use the M Series heated humidifier in passover mode? I am new to this too and didn't see that as an option?

I have a setting of ZERO available on my M series humidifier. Wouldn't that essentially turn off the heater and create passover mode?
