Last night with my quattro was only a little better than the night before. I was awoken about every hour with leaks and air blasting into my face. I tried lifting and replacing the mask, as some had suggested, to increase the seal, but there were still leaks. Finally I cranked down the bottom straps, loosened the dial a little and got a few hours of sleep. However, this morning my nose is raw where the mask met it. I can hardly wear my glasses.
I think some of this is anatomical. I have a natural bump in my nose just below where it dips between my eyes, and the mask seems to have trouble adjusting to that (or I have trouble adjusting the mask to that nose configuration.) Is there any full-face mask that just covers the lower nose and mouth? I don't think pillows would work for me because I hate to have anything in my nose.
Suggestions?
Second night with the Quattro - not much better
Re: Second night with the Quattro - not much better
Give it at least a week... given last night was only your 2nd night.
For the nose sore, first try wearing the mask higher on your face but not so high that your lips are covered with the face cushion. Also try adjusting the forehead knob to apply a little less pressure.
Once you have the upper straps adjusted to simply wrap around your head there should be no further adjustment needed on those. You may need to continue adjusting the lower straps until you get them just right for you.
If after a few days you still cannot get the mask adjusted then either one of the following...
-You have the wrong size of Quattro.
-or-
-The Quattro is not for you and you may need to try another model.
Don't give up... only your 2nd night. It may take several nights to get things dialed in... especially the mask part.

Re: Second night with the Quattro - not much better
Have you tried the nasal pillows at all? Are you a known serious mouth breather requiring the FF?
The nasal pillows are not nearly as intrusive as some people might think they are. There is also the option of nasal cushions so nothing goes up inside the nostrils. I believe Optilife offers a cushion along with their nasal pillows and maybe another brand also. The cushion uses the head gear of the nasal pillow system but instead of pillows that go only slightly into the nostril, there is a cushion that seats across the bottom of the nose. Nothing goes inside the nostril. Cpap.com has them and you can look at them under the nasal pillow section in Masks.

Sounds like maybe you got it at the end. I would keep the fit the same, but try some nose protection. I used to use a fabric bandage over the red part of the nose bridge. After a month your nose may toughen up and become less sensitive.katcw wrote:Last night with my quattro was only a little better than the night before. Make sure your face and mask are clean. I use my wife's Neutrogena and some CPAP mask wipes and it helps A LOT. You wouldn't think it would, but it really cuts down on leaks.
Re: Second night with the Quattro - not much better
I really wanted the Quattro to work.
Never could get comfortable enough with it over the course of a night.
Side sleeping, face buried into a pillow and turning several times a night just don't bode well for this mask.
I'm so very aware of it encapsulating my face, compared to a nasal pillow.
So it sits forlornly on the shelf, waiting for when I get fed up with the other mask.
After an evening of screwing around with the big Quattro,I'm all steeled up to use the nasal pillows again!
Bought it used on Kijiji.ca from a one time user who quickly sold it to me for $120 Can.
I was in disbelief that it would not be a good mask for me.
Trying an Activa LT next.
