Best Mask???

Post by mziesmer » Wed Jul 22, 2009 1:43 pm

Good Day All! I was doing some research on a new mask and somehow found this site. Very nice I wish to pose a ? to the populace as to which mask would be or is the best to use? I know it is a purely subjective ?, but I need some opinions/reviews. I saw the Sleepweaver but have not read of anyone here using it. I am currently using a nasal pillow style but I can no longer sleep all night with it. My wife also does not appreciate the air being blown in her face There are so many masks out there that the task is a daunting one. Thanks for any input!

Change over to the Aeiomed nasal mask.....the exhaust blows straight up.

If you like a nasal mask, you'll love this one.

First step is to figure out whether you need a nasal mask or a full face mask. If you mouthbreathe or mouthleak, you may need a full face mask. Dry mouth after sleeping is one of the symptoms of mouthbreathing/leaking.

If you're an occasional mouth breather....Hybrid
If you're not and you like something light and simple... Nasal Aire II or Swift LT

But, that's just my face. Everyone's face is different.
for instance, If your of Oriental decent or a child....try the Nasal Aire Petite

I love the Activa mask, and the Activa LT as well. I have to put tape on my mouth at night in order to keep from mouth breathing. A lot of people have this problem with nasal masks.
I like the Activa because it has a low leak rate (for me).
My husband has a full face mask, the Ultra Mirage Full Face, by ResMed. He likes it very much.
By the way, what is your pressure setting and which machine do you use? That can make a difference as to which mask to try.
Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the replies all. I do not think I am a mouthbreather unless the mask comes off. I use a Remstar Plus machine, and I think the setting is 8 (it displays 4-8).
