Sleep Position

Post by Alabama Girl » Mon Jul 20, 2009 9:43 am

I love to sleep on my stomach. Is this going to be possible with the headgear? Is any one out there that is a stomach sleeper? If so, let me know what your experience is.

Thanks!

I am a dedicated stomach sleeper and my first mask (Comfort Gel), I was crying because I couldn't sleep on my side or stomach. I bought a $90 pillow and it was like a brick so I couldn't use that. Now I have a new mask (see profile) that literally just covers my nose instead of being too big on my face. If I position my pillows just right (fold corner of pillow under my head) and use a small neck roll pillow under my chin to keep my face clear of everything, and the hose positioned upward and over the back of the pillow, I can sleep nicely on my stomach. I can also easily switch to my side with this mask.
I can't sleep on my back at all. Even if I tried propping my legs up, I woke up and couldn't move because my back hurt so badly. I am SOOOOO happy to find a way to sleep in other positions. I have a nasal pillow mask on order. I heard they help for stomach sleepers but I'm not sure how it will work for me. I have a 15 pressure setting.

Just a friendly tip about this writing style.

When people write "see my profile" I am not sure they realize just how unlcear they are being. Consider that in a year or so you may have tried 4 masks (maybe more) and you will likely not remember which mask YOU were referring to never mind the reader.

Now consider 4-5 yrs down the road just how unclear "see my profile" becomes. Try instead to use the make & model of the mask so that future reader might make sense of your writings. Also consider that mask may no longer be available, hence the reason for the make & model.

This is a very common writing error so please don't be offended I took the time to point this out.

Many new folks often list the wrong mask in their profile. Most masks have a label on the headgear which will at least give the manufacturer (make) and often times the model and/or size is stamped on the mask (check under the chin).

The literature that comes with the mask is also a source for the make & model. Many new folks don't take the time to read it bc they are overwhelmed with sooo much info. Not only will it include the proper fitting, wearing, and adjustment info but also valuable leak rates for a range of pressures.

That I know of - the literature doesn't mention that if the mask doesn't work for you - you can get a replacement from your DME, IF you contact the DME within 30 days. If your DME didn't tell you this, kindly ask before it gets past the 30 day window. If your DME won't honor this program, I would find another DME who will. All the DME has to do is some paperwork to get credit from the mask maker.

For belly sleeping I recommend the mask in my profile just kidding.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't even think of those points and it makes complete sense. No offense taken. I'm the queen of advice giving so I never mind it back. I was too lazy to look up my mask.
It is:

I think I stole your sleeping style, DSOTM. I do the same thing (fold the corner down). I fiddle with the hose and I can usually have a decent night's sleep that way. I tend to get a bit sore halfway through and either go to the other side or rest on my back for a bit.
So you get one chance in a lifetime to spend time with the sexiest man of the Boeshane Peninsula or traveling around in a TARDIS. Which would you choose?

I use a Mirage Swift II Nasal Pillow and have no problem sleeping on my stomach. I double over the pillow and put it to side of head or to the forgead like when you get a mashage.

With the ComfortLite 2, sleeping on my stomach was something I was able to try again....and its workable. Even better after I got the Hozer, to keep from getting tangled up in the hose when I end up rolling completely over during the night.
