Chronic runny nose, sneezing?

Post by rws » Sun Jul 19, 2009 2:13 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering what those of you that experience a chronic runny nose use to treat it. I have never suffered from allergies so going through a box of klenex daily is quite frustrating. Filters and mask cleaned regularly and only use distilled water. I have tried adjusting humidifier setting and the problem persists.
I'm going to ask my doctor for something to stop the running nose-sneezing and would like some recommendations as to what meds work best.

Regards, Rick

many of use nasal or sinus irrigation, see details at google, better than antihistamines for long term mucus
australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored

Do a search for "allergies" or "congestion", there's lots of threads with plenty of info.

Had the same problem. Suddenly sneezing and constantly running nose that started shortly after starting CPAP. Went to an allergist - I'm not allergic to anything. Doc says it's changes to weather (pressure mostly). I'm on Nasonex and Astelin. About the same time I started using a humidifier. No problems now. I think the humidifier make a big difference for me. I can tell the difference if I don't take my meds but it's still not as bad as before the humidifier.
