HELLLLLLLLP!!!!

Post by pattyo » Thu Jul 16, 2009 7:45 pm

I have been having so much trouble adjusting so last night I took some advice and did not use the ramp. Something has got to be wrong because it felt like a category 4 tornado was blowing in my face. What is going on?? I think I need to be reevaluated or something. What do I do now, also mask #2 is not working.

Current pressures? Titrated pressures and when done? Lost lots of wt? Ramp pressure? Change in meds?

When did you last see your doctor - the one who ordered this machine - the one who read your sleep study?

When can you go in and see your doctor?

This is a specialized machine and most of us here have no idea on the settings used.

I am fairly new too. I am on mask #6. Don't get discouraged. My current mask is the best I've tried so far. I think it's normal for us to try many before we find the right one. .

Sometimes we even find the right one after many tries, use it for 2 years and BANG - all of a sudden it doesn't work any more and got to find a new one ------- doing that myself right now.

I have never seen a doctor only a NP. There is only one sleep study doc at our clinic and I have yet to see him. Haven't had a follow-up since the sleep study in May 09. I have asked to talk to the NP but only get the MA who talks to her and then gets back to me.Tomorrow I am calling and specifically asking to speak to the doc. I feel like I've been left to fend for myself

Is the NP a "generalist" or specifically for sleep medicine?

okay but still - complex sleep apnea isn't the usual way it comes - most ppl here have OSA only

even for CSA a sleep doc who isn't board certified might not be much help and of course some of the board certified ones are in other their heads too with CSA

you need to see that doc and list your problems and take in 2 copies - one you hand him and one you keep yourself and go over them one by one and take notes for his answers

So I should call and demand an appointment with the MD? I think you're right, otherwise I feel like I just can't cope right now.

I am now using the Mirage Liberty full face mask with nasal pillows. It just seemed like the pressure was so forceful I couldn't get a breath.

It could be very strong feeling until you get acclimated. I assume you mean you had a hard time breathing out?

I don't always get very good numbers with my liberty but some like it. I actually used it last night. I also found the headgear cut off the tops of my ears and I couldn't stand that so I made my own.
