New Respironics Machine
I just got a new CPAP from Respironics and the intake/exhaust on the back of the machine "revs" as i breathe in and out. As i breathe out it slows down and revs back up as i breathe in and the sound is bothersome. I use to use a ResMed cpap and the sound was a steady white noise. Has anyone had this issue? Did I install it wrong? Thanks. Also, am trying a new full mask which is killing the bridge of my nose but if any looser get air leaks.
Re: New Respironics Machine
Nope, that is the way my Respironics sounded too. You can run a fan or white noise generator to cover up most of it or put the machine closer to the floor. There is also a whisper cap for it on cpap.com, https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... r-cap.html , but it only lessens it by a few dB. That is part of the reason I got a ResMed. I heard alot of the sound is caused by C-Flex and others say it's due to the shape of the humidifier. Just play with it and see what works for you.
As far as the mask goes, have you tried a Quattro?

Re: New Respironics Machine
I can relate to what you are saying (both parts)
I have the same machine and sometimes I hear it too... I think I posted up the question in the past
and others said the same thing. Just a strange machine?
I started off with a nasal mask that caused me to bleed every night. I would suffer for 4 hours (to maintain compliance) and then take it off to sleep. after a few days the dme called me and I was switched to the optilife nasal mask and a chin strap. Has worked for me since (almost 50 days now).

What you're describing is "C-Flex". It's an exhale relief technology that they developed some years ago.Miller2626 wrote:I just got a new CPAP from Respironics and the intake/exhaust on the back of the machine "revs" as i breathe in and out. You can turn off this feature and have a straight pressure (like your previous machine)
Which full face mask did you get?

Re: New Respironics Machine
actually on these machines it is called EPR (Exhale pressure relief)? Mine came set at 3; I have turned it down to 2...Wulfman wrote:Miller2626 wrote:quote]

in the course of fine tuning (trying to lower my AHI) I may try a lower setting, but have not het

On Respironics machines, it's C-Flex. On ResMed it's EPR.

Re: New Respironics Machine
Just for throughness: Respironics also has A-Flex, which is supposed to be an Improved C-Flex. All A-Flex machines have C-Flex, too.
An the sound of my S8 AutoSet II, which is very quiet, does vary with my breathing, even with EPR turned off. It may be the EasyBreathe technology that is built-in to all S8 II machines and cannot be turned off.

No worries, mine has EPR also, and I love it. To me, it feels more natural than c-flex.drubin007 wrote:my bad. im all confused. (mine has EPR)
