International Travel - Travel to Germany
Hello there,
I just found this forum - and I wish I would have found you guys a year ago when I started my travel through the CPAP world.
Anyway - I visited already your chat room and these great members suggested already a few things to my problem - but I still would like to post this here - in the hope to get a few more ideas for everybody.
I am going to travel to Germany this fall - I am wondering what converter I should use on my vacation and if there is anything else I should watch for.
I am looking forward to your responses
Martina

I haven't been to Germany with my CPAP machine yet, but I have taken other appliances there. You did not mention what machine you have. My ResMed S8 accepts either North American 110 volt or European 220 volt alternating current. I think this is common, but check your specifications to be sure. If so, you will only need a simple adapter to convert the flat-bladed North American plug to the standard Europlug, with two round pins 19 mm apart. These are under $10. There is no need to buy an expensive, heavy conversion kit with a transformer.

An extension cord is another 'take-a-long' as you never know where the nearest plug is.

Have you tried it? it's a terrific design. I'm wondering if it's sturdy and will last a while, or flimsy and will break the first time it's banged.hobbs wrote:Here is a cool travel adapter. Can be used it 150 different countries!

Used it in Egypt and Jordan in March of this year. VERY well built, it probably will outlast me.araminta wrote:Have you tried it? it's a terrific design. Re: International Travel - Travel to Germany
I have been using a couple of them for several years now without any problems. I wouldn't recommend trying to stand on one, but for general use they are not at all flimsy and are more than adequately robust for their intended purpose.araminta wrote:Have you tried it? it's a terrific design. Thanks for the great tip. This converter seems so compact -- great for travel.
I just ordered one.
And thanks, Hobbs, for the link to the site that sells them at such an affordable price.

Re: International Travel - Travel to Germany
Just for clarification. This item is not a converter. It is simply a wall plug adapter to allow your plug to connect with the wall plug in other countries. A converter is bigger, more expensive, and usually not neccessary for cpap machines. But as noted above, check your literature for your specific machine to be sure that it automatically handles either 110 or 220v.araminta wrote:Thanks for the great tip.
