Some CPAPS will allow both AC and 12v battery power hook up at the same time and if the AC mains goes down the battery automatically takes over.

I have been looking at generators on craigs list. Don't know if I will be able to afford one any time soon, though.

Does anyone know anything about inverters? You plug them into your car cigarette lighter and they have a couple of electrical outlets on them. What size (voltage or watts or whatever they are measured in) do you think I would need to run a cpap machine? You can get some of those for around $30-$50.

I have also seen those cords that end in alligator clips. I bet they come in handy. LOL They look very frankensteiney!!

A lot of people use marine batteries. They are pretty cheap and will last a LONG time.

You don't need inverter to run your apap. Search on site for a lot of posts about running on battery power. Your humidifier may not work with battery but machine just needs to be plugged in to a battery. I don't have your machine, but I remember reading about someone who had an intelipap that automatically switched from AC power to battery power when power went out.

You can tell if you have apnea without a study. A study proves to the insurance company you need one and gives you an idea where to set it. You can figure out where to set it on your own. If you feel like a pillow is over you face turn it up. If it blows your head off so to speak turn it down. You can figure out where it is just right, eventually. It's air, it won't kill you to play with it, but it could if you don't try.

Here is the link to the DC power cable for your machine. It plugs into the cigarette lighter.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/intell ... -cord.html

I have a 1500 VA inverter (UPS) which will run my machine for a full night.
The trick during hurricane Ike was to recharge the UPS during the day while I ran my small generator,
then run the CPAP on UPS at night.

Please keep in mind that any battery system supplying power to the CPAP will eventually need to be re-charged.
