Five months in

Post by MoneyGal » Sun Jun 28, 2009 4:10 pm

I was diagnosed with severe OSA on January 28, 2009; and received a biPAP on January 30, 2009. I'm five months into treatment. My whole life has turned around. I am still noticing benefits and I am still marvelling at how my life has changed - my reactions to life are so different.

Here is a picture of something I did recently: break a board with my heel. I have been practicing Tae Kwon Do for about 14 months now. I was grading for my blue belt in that photo (I had never broken a board before, but broke one with my heel, and one with my elbow).

The diagnosis and treatment for me is nothing short of a miracle. Although I am not necessarily grateful to have OSA, I am thankful beyond words for the difference treatment makes for me. I wanted to share something I accomplished post-diagnosis and treatment that would have been unthinkable for me just five months ago. Here it is!

So well said. It is a miracle.
....and sometimes, I don't know how else to feel, but grateful for OSA.....
because I have learned so many things about myself, because of it.

We're all making the changes to our lives to make the therapy work....
and it is rewarding us with new lives.

Thanks! for sharing.

...and now, you inspire me.

We see so many of the problems here on the forum that it's incredibly refreshing to see stories like yours MoneyGal.

It is a miracle. But I would like to see it turned into routine for the next generation. Screening by PCPs and dentists annually beginning in infancy should become routine for all. I want the stories we have about suffering for decades before figuring out what was wrong to not be repeated in the younger generations.

MoneyGal is a young looking kid, so maybe the trend to earlier diagnosis is well on the way.

Spread the word, one individual to other individuals.

[blush] I'm 41, closing in on 42. My doc thinks I've had progressively worsening apnea for up to a decade.
