Another adnausium Swift II Leak Vs Normal Flow Rate question

Post by Engransan » Sun Jun 28, 2009 2:31 pm

OK I know this has been covered adnausium but my brain isn't as good as it used to be. According to my calculations my normal flow rate for the Swift II at the displayed pressure of 13.2 is 38.95 L/Min.
My recorded " Leak Rate " was 32.4 L/Min
What conclusion can be drawn regarding actual mask leakage Vs Normal Flow Rate at the Pressure of 13.2

My S8 Autoset II displayed the following data this morning with my Resmed Swift II mask:
Pressure 13.2
Leak 0.54 L/Sec
AI 0.1
AHI 4.6
HI 4.5
The calculated Apnea Total is " 1 "
The calculated Hypopnea Total is " 45 "

S8 Autoset II is set for APAP
Min Press 11.6
Max Press 14.0
Leak monitor is set for " Off "
EPR is set for " Full Time " position " One "
Machine mask setting is " Swift "

Hi Jules,

I had a Liberty mask but recently purchased the Swift II. I changed my machine setting to 'Swift".

Since swift is in the menu then you add together the two leak numbers you have ------

So 5 % of the night your leak rate exceeded 70 liter/min (assuming the numbers are as you specified above).

===============================================================================================================
So the total flow rate is the expected normal 38.95 L/Min plus the unwanted 32.4 L/Min Mask pillows or mouth Leakage.

yes - for 5 % of the night

this is where the software gives more information as you can view the leak graph I assume - I am a respironics user myself

you don't know what happened the other 95 % of the night

I was under the impression that the leak rate displayed on my S8 Autoset II represented 95% of the total time?? I do have the graphs now since I got my cardreader yesterday. I have learned to copy the data to a pdf file but am not sure how to attach it to a message. Thanks for your help Jules.

I just take a screen shot of the pdf image graph. It can be cropped using online image resizer or the Paint program in Windows, Save it as a jpeg file to desktop (or similar easy to find spot) and upload it to my Photobucket account.
Once it is uploaded to Photobucket I copy the image location and insert using the IMG button on the editor here.
It is easier to do than to describe.

The reading is the 95 %ile meaning you were at or below this amount 95 % of the time

Hence I said you exceed it 5 % of the night .

You don't get any information from the LED on what happened that 95 % of the night you were at or below it.
