Fisher Paykel Flexifit 407

Post by BunkieBrice » Tue Jun 23, 2009 1:22 pm

Any feedback on this mask? It is what my DME proposes to supply me for my first mask. Also, what features should I be looking for on the CPAP itself - I know that it is coming with a heated humidifier, but what else do I need?

Thanks

Every mask and face is different.

You really need to try on several masks at the DME. You should do this lying down, in your usual sleep positions with the mask connected to an operating xPAP at your pressure.

I've been happy with mine.
I couldn't tolerate the full face mask I tried, or the Swift pillows.
It's a very personal thing.

Hi--I used to use that one until I found the nasal pillows! I will never go back to anything but my Swift LT. It is a personal thing and like the previous posted said you need to try many masks on while laying down to see what you might prefer. Good Luck! It will be a journey. Get ready!!

When you go to try on a mask - don't feel embarrassed. Take your time, put the mask on and try to lay in all the positions you usually sleep in. If you are a side sleeper, try lying on both sides. Have your RT check for leaks in all positions. Finding a comfortable mask is one of the most important things you can do to assure your success with cpap.

I have a F&P Zest nasal mask, I also have ResMed nasal micro. They are similar masks, but I prefer the F&P. It is lighter and conforms better to my face. When I got the two masks, I thought the ResMed would be the best - it is much heavier. After a few days, I learned the comfort of the lighter F&P meant more to me than the heavier ResMed. Perhaps the F&P 407 will be a good mask for you.

Welcome to the forum - the people here will be the best support you will find anyplace.

The best to you . . . Jan

I found the F&P the most comfortable of the 4 masks I have tried. It leaks a little, but they all did. But you need to be pretty assertive with DME's. 2 of the 3 RTs I've worked with have tried to give me a very limited selection and "sell" me on the first one that seems to work. I would start by asking to see everything in their inventory that would fit you and then narrow it down.
