Comfurt Curve

Post by dreamer7 » Sat Sep 10, 2005 6:50 am

Hello Everyone,
I tried the new Respironics Comfort Curve. It is totally awesome. So comfortable and it does not leak. It is so much better than the Comfort Gel or other masks. I have had 3 before. You hardly feel it on your face. The head gear is real comfortable; You don't even know it is there. This mask is more than worth the investment.

I got my comfort curve in june and it took some time and adjustments but it is my main mask now. I was having problems with leaks but I read a note on this forum from someone who put the head gear on backwards and it worked better for them. I tried it and it works better for me backwards. I also took off the gel pads and use panty liners for more comfort. I still alternate to my ultra mirage ff sometimes but my main mask is the comfort curve.

Are either of you side sleepers? Just wondering how it feels on your cheeks if/when you side sleep. Always looking for alternative masks, even though I love my Swift.

Comfort Curve

Post by Mom8 » Sun Sep 11, 2005 3:49 pm

I am on my second comfort curve. The first one, the elbow was leaking but I had used some nylon plummers tape when I installed our shower head so decided to try it and it worked. The only thing was everytime I washed it I had to replace it. Then the tab on the new head gear broke and so they replaced the hole set. When I was waiting for the replacement I found I was using the head gear wrong. I was having the adjustable part on the top of my head. I tried everything when I got it back and nothing worked so I went back the way I was wearing it before it broke and having panty liners on the cheek pads. If I don't get a good seal right when I get into bed I will have trouble. I go to sleep on my back and get it sealed good and then if I turn over I can hear it leak and pull the tabs a little tighter and I can sleep on my sides.
I started out with a small Comfort Gel. I complained to the doctor that it was leaking and thought it was to big for me. He told me to wad up a little kleenex and put under the leak. That was a laught. I talked to CPAP supply and told her how it was fitting over my smile lines and I thought it was to big. She sent me a small Profile Lite and it works good but seems to hurt the upper part of my nose. I also have a petite Comfort Gel but feel it is just a little too small.
Do you take the elbows apart everytime you wash it?

Yes. I start out on my back and then after I am asleep I turn over. As long as I go to sleep on my back then when I turn over I am okay. I also don't use the ramp feature for my full face mask but I DO use it with comfort curve. I hope you have as much success with it as I have. I tried the Breeze and it irritates my nostrils and the comfort curve does not so I am very happy with it now.

I love my Swift and occasionally use Activa (great mask) but I am really tempted to try this Comfort Curve as I do like to switch occasionally.... hmmm. Will be seeing the sleep doc for our 6-mo followup next week. Maybe see how things are going and then decide...
