Quick Question about IntelliPAP Smartlink

Post by mark56usa » Tue Jun 16, 2009 5:55 pm

I was able to get a generic prescription from my doctor for a cpap machine (my first) to give me the greatest latitude in finding a machine. After looking through the bunch and finding out that ResMed no longer sells ResScan, I have sort of, kind of, maybe, settled on the IntelliPAP AutoAdjust.

I know with the Standard IntelliPAP that only compliance data is available using SmartLink. My question is if efficacy data are available from AutoAdjust if used in a CPAP only mode.

Anybody have an answer?

cpap-supply.com still has ResScan 3.7 listed on their site. It may only be while their supply lasts, so call first, if you are set on ResMed.

I don't really know about the Devilbiss, but I do know that you can set both Respironics and Puritan Bennett (Covidien) machines with min=max, and thus have CPAP therapy with APAP report details.

I'm almost certain that the efficacy data is tracked in CPAP mode. I use mine in APAP mode, but I read the manuals for the Intellipap, the SmartLink module and the software, and none of these mentions that you lose the ability to monitor treatment in CPAP mode.

If you want to know with 100% certainty, I'd suggest you email Kristin.Mastin@DeVilbisshc.com who works at DeVilbiss and participates in this forum. She has been extremely helpful any time I've reached out to her.

You don't need to buy an APAP to get full data capability.

Many of the higher-end CPAPs have the same data capability as their big-brother APAP.

Just remember that a data card slot does not ensure full data capability. Some machines just record compliance data. So read up.

If you use the IntelliPAP AutoAdjust in CPAP mode, efficacy data will indeed be available including leak and AHI. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Many thanks. I figured it out after reading the SmartLink Manual on the Devilbiss Health Care web site. I do appreciate your confirming what I found.

I'm pretty excited about getting the machine today. I picked up a copy of my sleep study results from the doc yesterday and was pretty shocked. After looking at the snore report, I had to apologize to my wife about not getting tested earlier. It was quite an eye-opening read.

Thanks again, and have a great weekend.
