For the English members a question or two

Post by hecate » Fri Jun 12, 2009 12:35 pm

Hi,

I've just moved from the USA back to England. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and prescribed a CPAP machine in the states. I'm now in England and have no idea what the process is in England. I've been to my local GP and now have an appointment at the hospital. Who does the proscription for CPAP equipment? What can they proscribe? I have a REMstar auto with heated humidifyer and a hybrid mask. Am I going to get replacement parts for my equipment?

Thanks
Liz

Try asking at the British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association forum site.

Cheers,

Bill

Your local NHS hospital will provide the equipment. I think they still have a national contract with Respironics. In my experience they don't offer the Hybrid but it's worth asking if they will provide replacement seals and nasal pillows.
