Software for ResMed S8 Autoset II
Software for ResMed S8 Autoset II
First, I'd like to know what info the software will provide me over what I can see on the screens already. How could I use this additional information to improve my therapy results?
Secondly, will it work with Windows Vista Premium?
Any additional equipment/hardware/software required to make this work?
Where can I purchase it and will it work with other machines, should they decide to change mine? My ins. does rent to own for @ 10 months. (What a rip-off) The Ins. co actually allows $170.00 a month for xpap rental, (had to purchase the integrated humidifier on day 1) and they will pay 80% of the allowed amt. That's $1,700.00 for just the xpap alone! Then I wonder if they charge them on top of that? I think the humidifier portion was @ 200-300 up front.

per cpap.com information where they offer this for sale.
You will need the card reader or the adapter for the software.

"This software works with S8 and S8 II machines. Version 3.7 is compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista."
I use Respironics software so what I see is a bit different. Someone who uses this software can better explain what the actual differences are between the LCD screen and the software graphs. But in general LCD screens show averages and the software gives you hourly data along with the averages.

Amongst other things, ResScan 3.7 provides you with a detailed timeline display graph with variable resolution, down to 1 second level, of events. You can see the relationship between pressure, leakage and the occurance of individual events. It also indicates the duration of apneas.TXLadybug wrote:First, I'd like to know what info the software will provide me over what I can see on the screens already. You should have received a ResScan smartcard with your S8. You will need a ResScan card reader, which connects to your PC via a USB port.TXLadybug wrote:Any additional equipment/hardware/software required to make this work?
ResScan works with Resmed xPAP machines only.TXLadybug wrote:will it work with other machines, should they decide to change mine?
There is no software which works across multiple brands of xPAP machines.
Cheers,
Bill
Re: Software for ResMed S8 Autoset II
You are misunderstanding your insurance company's "rental" of your Resmed AutoSet. It is a rent to own. You are given a brand new xPAP. Your insurance makes x amount of monthly payments and at the end of that term you own THAT xPAP. You do NOT get another new one.
And are you looking at your EOB statement closely? I'm thinking that $170 a month is the BILLED amount, not the contracted amount actually paid by the insurance company. AND your copay is USUALLY based on the allowed (contracted) amount, NOT the BILLED amount. I could be wrong as my primary is Medicare and Medicare usually doesn't pay as well as private insurances.

Thanks for all the replies. Slinky, I do understand that I will get to keep my current machine after the 10 months. And yes, they are actually billing my ins co 220 a month for the rental, but they only allow 170 and they only allow them to bill me 20% of $170 This is through private insurance.
I do have a card with my machine. Thinking seriously of getting the software.

Re: Software for ResMed S8 Autoset II
Do all resmeds come with the card? I just received my S8 Elite ll a couple of weeks ago, it has the card slot but I wasn"t given a card.
Does it make a difference if I'm in Ontario, Canada.

The card is usually in a white card folder which is with the various pieces of paperwork that Resmed includes in the documentation package Its not obvious what is in there until you open it.I Am wrote:Do all resmeds come with the card? Package was open when I got it!
I think someone is holding out on me!
When I picked it up I was asking about seeing settings and such...then she whet on a rant about people self medicating.
I was more curious if when they come with the card slot, do they come with the card. That way I"ll know before I bring it up.
I asked about more info and she said to bring it in and they"d print off the info I don't really think she wants to see me at least once a week
Re: Software for ResMed S8 Autoset II
Actually, her boss might not mind seeing you each week if they are one of the local DME suppliers that charge your insurance - or you - for downloading and printing out info. And quite likely she'd only print out the bare info for you anyway.
Since you weren't given a data card, they aren't that expensive. I think they are sold only in pairs. I'd self-purchase one or a pair, however they are sold, for my own use but when and if they want you to bring your device in for a download do NOT leave your card in your xPAP for them to use. Make them use their own since she wants to play so coy w/you. Two can play her game.

Brought my machine in today and asked for the info off it.
She printed out pages & pages of data & graphs.
And then gave me the card said I'd need it for next time

Right on, I Am. I'm glad to hear you got the full download and a data card!! Its even more interesting when you have the software on your own PC and can stretch those graphs out for different time durations!
